My parents' 17 year-old Yorkie died earlier this year, and they just now got a new puppy. My folks are 84 and 80 and I think they forgot how much work a pup is. My mum told me, "Sometimes I think he's the cutest, most wonderful thing ever. Other times it seems like the Antichrist has come to our home."

I got my corgi as an 8-week old puppy and while it’s been very rewarding to raise her from such a young age it was also a ton of work! She peed constantly at that age and would also chew any and everything until she lost her puppy teeth. I can’t imagine going through all of that in my 80s.

Yeah. I suggested that. But they wanted to try and replicate their previous happy, Yorkie puppy dog experience. I’m not excited about them getting a new dog at all, much less a yappy little beast, because I know it will likely outlive them, and I don’t want to inherit a noisy little dog (My dog is a 55 pound shelter rescue - a really great dog.)

My SIL's neighbor just got an English Bulldog puppy. I mean, great, but she and her husband have two small children. I can't imagine that is the right dog for all the strenuous playtime that dog has in its future.

We’re watching after our neighbors’ brindle pit this weekend and in addition to (of course) being a very good dog he’s got the most ridiculous little arf of a bark. So funny coming out of that block-headed little tank.

As some of you might have seen on Facebook my wife and I had to euthanize our last dog, Buck, this morning. For over 21 years we have had pugs...as many as four in the house plus a foster. Buck has been an only dog for almost the last three years. He was suffering from arthritis and dementia and while he could still eat he had to be hand fed most of the time and didn't take interest in anything so we figured it was time. We had hoped to travel to take our minds off of things but COVID has blown that out of the water. No kids so we'll see just what our marriage is made of with nothing else to focus on during this lockdown. He was 16 and a good boy.

Thanks...I appreciate the sentiments. This COVID stuff really piles on...I really wish we could go somewhere...since both the wife and I work from home we can go anywhere we want for however long we want. I even debated about waiting until the quarantine is lifted to go through with the process but that wasn't fair to him.

Gus is still regularly sporting his leopard print donut because every time we leave it off for a bit he just goes to down to hammer town. Plus he seems to like sleeping with it on as it props up his head.

We have a screened in back porch, and we had the inside door open to it this evening because it was beautiful. I was out there drinking and reading and heard a banging and looked up and the dumbass had his head and donut stuck on one side of the door and the rest of his body on the other. Before I could get to him he gave a big tug and the donut popped off. He pushed the door open with his snout and went out to sniff and piss around.
