POLL: Wolfman's Got Nards

Post by Johnny Carwash »

Had a thought that this might be the most demographically specific pop culture reference I can think of. If you are a white American male born between, say, 1975 and 1983, there's a 90% chance you recognize this; if not, more like 1%.

I'm having trouble nailing down the source, but I certainly caught the reference. (b. 1974)
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

Born in 1972, and I have no idea what this means.

OK, I guess I overestimated the demographic and it should have been more like "everyone within 2 years of my own age and who also went to my school."

Skip to about 1:40 if you don't want to watch a full two minutes of second-rate 80's production values:

'76, heard the reference before but couldn't think of what it was from. Saw your video, and I am 100% confident I never saw that movie or even heard of it.

Rewatched it with one of the kids last year. Between some of the words it's no longer cool to use, some of the less than kid friendly content, the special effects, and I suppose the completely nonsensical plot I found myself wincing a lot, but she enjoyed it and that line still made me laugh.

I've always been curious whether that was a direct reference or not.

'63 so not a chance there.

I figured that you were referencing this relic of the 60s and 70s.
