Guess that field goal Saban was pissed at the refs about before half time was kinda important.

I have absolutely no reason to cheer for Auburn, but there is something great about watching Alabama lose.

Re: 2019 College Football Thread
So, do we agree that if LSU beats Georgia in the SEC championship, then Georgia is out of the playoff?
So, in that case, who is the 4th team? Utah has a good claim, imho.

Re: 2019 College Football Thread
It’s Utah if they beat Oregon. If the Ducks win it’ll be the Big 12 Champ. But I’m expecting that UGA gets some major home cooking from the refs next week to try to get two SEC teams into the playoff.

Uh yes, sir, Rutgers football is a brilliant team with many well thought out, practical ideas. They are insuring the happiness of their fans for years to come. And their personal hygiene is above reproach.
Re: 2019 College Football Thread
Thinking about this some more, it would not surprise me if Oklahoma jumps over Utah if they both win. Oklahoma is such a big name in college football that I’m sure the committee would rather have an OHST-Okla semi than a OHST-Utah one. Utah likely stays ahead of Baylor though if Baylor beats OU.

Re: 2019 College Football Thread
That would be sad if Utah won big but is left out due to being the lesser draw. Same with Baylor. I can see a scenario where both Utah and Oklahoma lose and either Georgia (if they lose) or Alabama is put back in. I know ratings matter but so does fairness.

I say this as someone who doesn't watch football anymore...and as a Utah alum...but I'd almost rather they win the Pac-12 championship and get left out of the playoff. Going to the Rose Bowl for the first time would be pretty awesome for the Utes.degenerasian wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 12:34 pm That would be sad if Utah won big but is left out due to being the lesser draw. There's absolutely nothing ever sad about Baylor being left out of anything other than prison.degenerasian wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 12:34 pm That would be sad if Utah won big but is left out due to being the lesser draw. Woah....Coach Pete resigns from Washington. Did not see that coming at all.

Washington coach Chris Petersen will step down after the Huskies' bowl game and be replaced by defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake, the school announced Monday.
As part of the shocking announcement, the school said Petersen will transition into a "leadership advisory role" within the athletic department.
"It has been a privilege and a professional dream fulfilled to be part of this world-class institution," Petersen said in a statement. "I will forever be grateful, honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to coach our fine young men on Montlake for these past six seasons.

Has to be to keep Lake from going somewhere else.

Re: 2019 College Football Thread
The Ducks are making Sunday a very easy work day for the CFP Committee with this performance tonight. OSU, LSU and Clemson are locks, win or lose, and it's either UGA as the 4th if they beat LSU or the Big 12 winner if not. Only question is seeding; I'd want no part of Clemson in the semis if I'm OSU or LSU.

Oregon going to win most likely but is Herbert really a franchise qb? Man he has had some bad passes. This is literally the second time I’ve seen him play so small sample size I guess.

I get that the guys he works with love him and he’s more or less a mascot than a commentator, but it almost seems embarrassing that they continue to allow Lee Corso to speak on TV. He makes Trump sound like George Plimpton by comparison.

Re: 2019 College Football Thread
It’s been years since I watched the pregame stuff but according to Wiki, Corso has been cognitively impaired since 2009 as a result of a serious stroke. So yeah, he’s not what he used to be.

So much for letting Georgia win.
How much does OSU have to win by to get #1?

It's like watching rugby, no forward passes. Game might end before the Presidents Cup starts.

I’m very curious to see if LSU can keep the train rolling in the title game. Big 12 defenses remain trash but LSU also lit up Bama, UGA and aTm late in the year. Either way Joe Brady is going to have teams beating down the door for his services after the job he’s done at LSU this year.

It’s the best day as a bengals fan I have had since right before Dalton broke his thumb in 2015.
Re: 2019 College Football Thread
Because it proves the 2020 Bengals, beyond any asshole's questioning or doubt, would be NCAA playoff contenders?
Re: 2019 College Football Thread
Why are these games going on today? How did you guys even know it was today?
Re: 2019 College Football Thread
I stopped at a bar for a beer (Sloop Juice Bomb) after Whole Foods because I knew nothing was going on at home and the under 30:00 countdown had started on the TV.

Re: 2019 College Football Thread
The fact that there were no posts about the Clemson-OSU game last night shows that people on the site are way too rational. I would’ve liked to see some crying Buckeye fans and/or deranged officiating conspiracy theories.
That was a great game though. Not perfectly played and definitely some key officiating moments (both replay decisions were fine IMO, although I’d like to see the NCAA add discretion on targeting ejections), but a pretty even game that was very physical.
