I just saw that some states require the winner to be announced. The winner in south carolina does not have to reveal themselves, which would obviously be the best way.sancarlos wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 6:06 pm Yeah, I still want to win.
But, I can imagine that people come out of the woodwork asking you to fund their real or imagined needs. Kind of like the "friends" and family of newly rich pro athletes, I suppose.
I'll try to conceal my identity as a new billionaire from everybody except you guys.

Yeah, there are some really interesting long form articles that get into this topic... People's lives get absolutely fucked up for a lot less money. In fact, it's the people from not so great economic situations that win "smaller" amounts of like $5M (taxes take a big chunk) who think they are set for life, spend like crazy, have people come out of the woodwork, etc and they are fucked within a couple of years.

Even in states where the winner must be announced you can setup a trust and then have the trust claim the ticket. That's the way to go anyway for tax reasons.

Forgot to check, guess I didn't win. I'm going to demand a refund, the jackpot was $50 million less than advertised. I wouldn't have played if I knew it was less than $1.6 billion.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 8:54 am https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mega-milli ... 018-10-24/

10b5 liability. My lotto ticket is a security. The south Carolina lottery corporation is just like Goldman. Kinda like that.

Three out of five and no mega ball. $10 on one of my tickets. Halfway to glory.

I remember occasionally hitting two on a card and thinking you weren't that far off. I'm pretty much a lightning strikes one play lotto gambler and I can't remember the last time I bought one that actually hit a number.
Re: The Lottery Thread
Both of you guys hit 3 of 6? Someone far better than I can give you odds on that. Figure odds a lot longer than 1/10 but maybe not too much more than 1/100. Feels like u got shorted on the $10 prizes.

The odds are 1 in 606 of getting 3 numbers with no "cash ball".

Like my gambling mentor always says to me.
If you want to only gamble on a game that pays out 100 percent with 0 variance, your only option is the bill-breaking machine.

Re: The Lottery Thread
yeah I think all lotteries are like that. doesn't the government keep half to begin with? we have 6/49 here. They draw 6 numbers plus 1 bonus.
6/6 = 5 million
5/6 + bonus = 100,000
5/6 = 1,500 :(
