Could have been a lot worse for Spurs - getting the #2 seed makes a massive difference. Substitute Leverkusen, Valencia or Inter for Olympiacos, and I'd be stressed out.

Liverpool and City can probably start resting some starters by Matchday 4.

Chelsea may have some real problems.

I’ve seen people worried it’s not challenging enough but I think the rest (and experience for Foden and possibly one of the young CBs if they eventually hit the rotation) City can get in the group stage now could be vital.

Olympiacos took their foot off the gas, taking off Valbuena.

I was never very worried. And once Valbuena went off, I had no doubt that it was going to be a tie. Just a weird feeling.

That is the second time that Sanchez has been started on the right side, and it bloody well better be the last time. Odd to think that this game had some experimenting going on as Alli hasn't started in a long time, Ndombele (who was absolutely pathetic) was trying to get fit again, no Sissoko and Davies making his first start.

I'll take the tie, but I am very worried about Alli who looks awful.

Are Madrid going to get out of the group stage?

They have 45 minutes to turn this around.

I left the room at 5-2 and my daughter turned to the Man City game. Two minutes later it was 7-2.

Losing to a great side is one thing, but to quit like that at home?

And while I have always loved Pocchetino, there couldn;t have been a Spurs fan in the world happy tio see Aurier and Alli starting against this juggernaut. Aurier is pure shit - when he's not getting stupid red cards, he is being humiliated on the field - and Alli hasn't had a good game in 18 months or so. And Winks should have been the first player yanked off the field.

I'll continue bitching...

Lloris is clearly past his prime as are the once awesome and now merely good central defence pair of Vertonghen and Alderweireld.

It was a good run, but I have a bad feeling that shit is going to be hitting the fan in North London.

Did Aurier play because he's suspended this weekend?

No - Spurs fucked up big time in selling Trippier, who had an average season last year after a great year the one before.

That left them with Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters who is clearly not ready for Premier League action. So they're stuck. Not like they haven't tried - playing Sanchez out of position on that side a few times - but there are no alternatives.

So while it's nice they got an injured young left back in the transfer window, the problem was on the other side. And I do believe that Pocchetino likes Aurier - after all, he's the one who bought him two years ago.

Is it acknowledged in Spurs circles how fucking weird it was to replace Kyle Walker with Kyle Walker-Peters?

It is a real sports oddity.

Walker-Peters' first game at the start of last season, he was named Man of the Match. I don;t think he's played a solid half since. Clearly Pocchetino agrees.

Similarly, I always thought it was odd that ARSENe managed ARSENal, and that for a while MAN CIty was managed by MANCIni.

That Spurs game was a joy from start to finish. Almost forgot what it was like to have the whole team - with a number of changes made by Pocchetino - play well.

Some great goals and highlights yesterday. Pulisic beating Dest and crossing through his legs was nice. Mo Salah's was fantastic. Messi getting smoked on the Cryuff turn...

Liverpool could be in a bit of trouble here, eh?

(I'm sure they'll score a 97th minute touchy penalty to win it, but this is fun for now.)

I thought the card on the handball in the box was tough. I don't mind giving the penalty or the first card in the sequence, but the 2nd card was for an arm by his side.

I'll just assume we don't have a Europa League thread, because Europa League. Curious WTF is happening in the Arsenal game. Guimaraes is outshooting Arsenal 10-1, yet Arsenal had 64% possession.

And I think Man City should be fined 6 points for the uniforms they wore today.

Ajax - Valencia is heating up.

Valencia up 1-0, they need a win to advance.

Ajax needs a tie.
