Carter Page is obviously not the most sympathetic figure but the DOJ IG Report shows just how full of shit Steele was and that the Steele dossier should never have been used as a basis for the Page FISA warrants. It’s also not a great look for Adam Schiff that he so forcefully vouched for Steele on multiple occasions.

Don Jr went a-hunting...

Donald Trump Jr. got approval to hunt an endangered sheep days after he killed it
At nighttime in a remote region of western Mongolia, Donald Trump Jr. used a rifle with a laser sight to shoot and kill an endangered argali, the largest living species of sheep. Local hunting guides fanned the lights of their cellphones across the ground to search for where the creature fell. Trump Jr. asked them not to dismember the animal on the spot, but instead to carry it away on an aluminum sheet to keep its fur and horns intact.

ProPublica described the August excursion in a report that relies on records and interviews to allege that the president’s son received special treatment from the Mongolian government just weeks after U.S. and Mongolian officials met at the White House. The Trump administration has sought to strengthen ties with Mongolia, a longtime defense partner that lies between China and Russia, to prepare for Beijing’s growing global influence.

In Mongolia, permits to shoot and kill an argali, which are prized for their horns and meat, are determined largely by politics, connections and money, experts told ProPublica. Trump Jr. received a permit after his hunt — which ProPublica reported is a rare occurrence.
But sure...let's talk some more about Joe and Hunter Biden.

Here's Jr with a member of the Mongolian President's political party:

Ya know, didn't Republicans have an acute case of apoplexy when a dumb joke playing on Barron's name was uttered like a couple days ago?

But this is ok with Republicans? An actual direct attack on a 16 year old?

Ha. The GOP reactions to Pamela Karlin and Greta are entirely consistent: discrediting highly respected critics by whatever means necessary. That should come as no surprise at this point.

Meh. Greta is 16, made herself an international celebrity, and came to the United States to advocate on a controversial issue. (No, it shouldn't be controversial.) That's a different thing from a 13 year old already in an awkward situation, trying to live his life privately, having his name be made part of a public proceeding.

The Trumpers are full of shit, and of course their indignation is feigned, but they're kinda right on this one. (And it was really fucking bad lawyering by Karlan.)

They're the same motherfuckers who attacked the Stoneman-Douglas kids because they don't want other schoolchildren to experience the horror they went through. They don't get the benefit of the doubt. Fuck them.

The Stoneman kids made themselves public figures also. Some attacks (like those by Laura Ingraham) were completely inappropriate, but we can't really say "look at these awesome kids doing this public work" and also say "how dare you criticize them".

Anyway, I don't think Barron Trump publicly criticized the Stoneman kids.

Trump goes after everyone. And Greta did point fingers in her UN speech so it's all fair.

Calling Trump's tweet 'applauling' and 'mocking aspergers" and 'sexist' is a bit much. Seems Greta had fun with it and handle it perfectly.

Karlan was using Barron's name to make a point. She never said anything about him personally.

Fuck the RightWing and their phony indignation. Rush Limbaugh is still a hero to them, and he was on TV calling Chelsea Clinton a dog back in the day. And John McCain called Chelsea Clinton ugly, joking it was because Janet Reno was her father.

Screw them all.

Do you think that distinction matters at all to a thirteen year old kid?

It was a stupid and unnecessary quip, one that had nothing to do with the kid, who as far as I know has done nothing wrong. It helped fuel the "both sides are extreme" narrative that millions of people want to fall back on (because it's easier than judging people). And it detracted from her otherwise great testimony.

(Except for the part where she pointed out that even Abraham Lincoln used his political power to help ensure his re-election. But what can you really expect from a Stanford professor?)
