My Saturday morning hot take that only Giff will agree with: James Harden is significantly underrated. I don't think there's quite enough appreciation for the way that he can singlehandedly turn any hodgepodge of supporting players into an elite offense. Averaging 38.4 ppg while maintaining a 64.5% true shooting percentage, which Harden is currently doing, is outrageous. Different eras and all, but Jordan, Wilt and Kobe were all very far below that efficiency level in their highest scoring seasons.

Isiah Thomas getting tossed last night was interesting. I think it as an okay call but a better ref would have taken a second and then made the decision. I think Thomas is trying to grab his hand and say whoops, but once he gets tossed there is no going back. The review shows a push but a bit of context may have calmed that one down.

Crazy shooter. He hits insane shots.

But he’s brutal to watch play. He’s like a soccer player drawing “contact” and fouls. Perhaps it’s just me but the stuff he gets away is ridiculous. The three step drop like he’s a quarterback non-calls combined with the always in the act of shooting reactions isn’t an enjoyable brand of ball to me.

Kevin Love clearly is angling to get traded, but the contract Dan Gilbert gave him as a loyalty reward after Kyrie and LeBron left is going to make it hard for the Cavs to find any takers. He’s still a good rebounder and can shoot well for a big, but he’s not someone you want to pay $30M/year.

Dismiss potential Knicks stupidity at your own peril.

He is amazing, but I'm pretty sure that if Jordan had played in modern times, he'd have had a better three point shot and would have taken a lot more of them.

25 , 7 assists and 4 rebounds - 12 of 18 shooting. 10 in fourth. And he had this bucket on this move up one with under a minute to go:

Also the rules allowed people to murder those guys compared to how James Harden is defended. Look I think he is really really really good. One of the greatest shooters of all time. The NBA should absolutely make changes that don't affect just him (2 fouls on 3 pointers) (widen the lane)

Dangerous business letting KD have Twitter while rehabbing.

Theyre both right, though.

Very true, but I enjoyed seeing him take shots at Perkins in that exchange. Perkins was at best the 8th or 9th best player on the ‘08 Celtics, so him calling out KD for riding others’ coattails to glory is like Luc Longley ripping LeBron for never 3-peating.

Kendrick Perkins combines the words-to-meaning ratio of Kevin Garnett with the skill of Kendrick Perkins.

Dude was nowhere near 8th or 9th best. Problem with stats guys is that they have no use for the things that win games. Garnett had the mouth but Perk backed it up. Granted ive got a soft spot for Perk but his injury was the reason those guys didnt win two titles, yet somehow hes ninth best? Those LeBronesque head games are reason alone to stay in school a while.

Which of these guys was Perkins better than: KG, Pierce, Ray Allen, Rondo, Posey, Tony Allen, PJ Brown, Leon Powe?

I’ll give you Powe, but no one else on that list.

From The Ringer:

Since 2000, 120 rookies have taken enough shots to qualify for the True Shooting % leaderboard...

112. Kevin Knox
114. Dennis Smith Jr
117. RJ Barrett
120. Emmanuel Mudiay
Barely didn't qualify but would be tied for 120. Frank Ntilikina

92. Caron Butler
93. Deron Williams
94. Rudy Gay
95. John Wall
100. Russell Westbrook
102. LeBron James
103. Jason Richardson
104. DeMarcus Cousins
110. De'Aaron Fox
117. Kemba Walker

OH BOY I SURE HOPE THIS ISN'T A PREDICTIVE STAT!!!

Yeah, the Grizzlies are going to mess around and make the playoffs! Sure they’ll probably get swept by the Lakers but at least we’ll get 4+ games for Ja to try to posterize LBJ or AD.

This was also a nasty play. Too bad the Cavs defender made a great hustle play to block the dunk and spoil the assist.

Every time they wear them this year it is a treat. And, yes, that play was one of the best almost plays I’ve ever seen.

1200 people from Murray, KY made the three hour drive to come to see Morant last night. Clearly a likeable person. I always wondered what it would be like to have some lottery luck at the same time that a potentially generational player is available - so far it is as great as I could have imagined.

Another angle on what JoeK posted:

In their beatdown of the Lakers, Kemba walker got his first ever win over Lebron. 1-28 now. Seems nearly impossible, but the Hornets were pretty bad.
