For sure those are the positives. He’s canny enough to make it work.

Agree. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing for him. Sometimes an athlete isn’t in peak condition. See Barkley, Charles.

Of course he was just a tremendous athlete that was able to play at that weight and his legs on the second jump were otherworldly. Zion is his closest avatar I suppose.
I don’t think the weight loss will hurt Jokic. The main strengths of his game are shooting touch and insane passing vision/skills, rather than brute power. If anything he could be a better defender if he can move laterally better now that he’s skinny.
This is a big part. With any additional mobility, he may evolve into being a more willing defender, which would be a plus. Sometimes, as soon as he gives up any advantage when defending, he seems to give up. Any little bit he moves better may improve this part of his game.

I like to think Lebron had to go to vegas to drag JR Smith to the facility.

Alternatively, JR Smith gets the call and goes full Murtaugh "I'm getting too old for this shit" before reluctantly doing whatever crazy shit Lebron suggests.

How does Covid affect his game? Free up more space on the elbow?

I definitely hope 5% of the country isn't currently infected. Maybe that's infections plus antibodies

Man, this Woj episode sucks. Josh Hawley deserves to be told "Fuck you" for his ridiculous notion, but of course it was spun that all of ESPN feels that way, and BOOM! instant martyrdom. Just the way the GOP loves it.

Has anyone tested positive who was in the bubble? I know the Rockets guy today has to quarantine for going out of his room, but I feel like everyone who's tested positive has done so before they got there.

Am I reading it right that 19 more players tested positive in a single round of testing? Out of 322?

I realize these guys get around more than the average human, but are you kidding me?

Sporting News from about an hour ago:
Of the 322 players tested for COVID-19 since arriving on the NBA Campus July 7, two have returned confirmed positive tests while in quarantine. Those players never cleared quarantine and have since left the Campus to isolate at home or in isolation housing.

Since July 1, during in-market testing, 19 NBA players newly tested positive. These players are staying in their home markets and recovering until they are cleared under CDC guidelines and NBA rules for leaving home isolation and joining the Campus.

This NBA bubble thing is basically a deployment but for really rich people.

They're doing morale trips to go fishing.

They're staying is the dopest hotel rooms.

They're shotgunning beers in kiddie pools.

And when the barbershop gets built, you know it's about to be LIT.

Disney should keep this standing as a new theme park. There’s no rides, but if you pass your quarantine, you get to do normal things the rest of the time.

The Atlanta Hawks have to be the most "just there" team in sports over the last 30+ years. They haven't been a bona fide title contender, but they haven't been noteworthily bad either. Not like an entertaining bad, or even a Schaudenfreude-bad like the Knicks. They haven't won the lottery. They've had one player with national cachet, and he hasn't played for them since the mid-90s. They're just there.

Yeah, what a weird franchise.

Even their golden era in the early- to mid-90s never got past the 2nd round (I don't think). Dominique and Spud were legit stars, and guys like Mookie were world class.

Might have found it here, but I forget... The big issue is how they're going to get stoned if they last deep into this whole thing.

I'm pretty sure Spud Webb was was a star because he was short and won the dunk contest. He averaged under 10 points and 6 assists a game in his career.

welcome to the resistance

ETA: I think the Thunder are gonna get the 4 seed and get to the second round. They'll get obliterated by the Lakers, but I'm extremely excited for the rest of the year. They've been so fun -- and will probably smartly tank next year without Gallinari

And now there is a game that is 82-72 before halftime! I thought the entire NBA was Wizards vs. Hornets

Too bad I'll be asleep before this one ends.
