Hey, there WAS a postseason thread that recognized the Astros' superiority over all other beings....

Yes. As far as my St. Louis area native wife knows, I am rooting for the Cardinals. But, what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Mark Melancon is a closer for an actual title contending team?

For “ever” there’s been talk that Melancon couldn’t handle pressure. Like back when he was a prospect, not some retrofit when he missed in a few big spots.

(But also, why the fuck is any reliever being left in to allow 3 base runners, let alone 7?)

Melancon was the 6th reliever used, so maybe there wasn’t much left. Snitker is just as good as Bobby Cocks in the postseason, I guess!

Did the Braves hire snitker because he looks like Bobby Cox?

Cardinals reliever Ryan Helsley is a member of Cherokee Nation, and he had this to say about Braves fans doing the tomahawk chop during yesterday’s game:
It just kind of devalues our Cherokee heritage and the Native American history. Us, as Cherokee native people, went through a lot in this country. It’s more of a disappointment type thing. It doesn’t, like, make me mad or anything, it’s just kind of like a disrespect thing. It shows less respect for the people.

I’m amazed at Gleyber’s take on the 2-2 pitch, and that it was called a ball. That was a strike until about 2016

Very disrespectful of Dave Roberts to bury the MLB ERA leader behind a player who lacks The Clutch Gene when setting his postseason rotation.

I've noticed in the playoffs all the stadiums have the netting up all the way to the foul poles.

I turned it to the game thirty minutes ago. The dodgers are still batting.

I went to the Cardinals-Braves game today. I had a pretty good seat along the third baseline and it was a really entertaining game to watch. Carlos Martinez will get most of the heat for the loss, but Bader getting picked off in the 8th and Shildt intentionally walking McCann to face Swanson (who already had 2 hits) were also really bad for the Cardinals.

You almost have to feel sorry for the Rays because even if they win today their prize is to face at least Verlander one more time and probably Cole and Verlander to try and win the series.

Well, they'd be facing them in the same game, and presumably if they turn to Cole it may well be because Verlander shit the bed. Then again, though not exactly an achilles heel, by far the Astros' greatest weakness is their bullpen, so it stands to reason they'd go to Cole to shut the door.

Yeah, I guess that's true though I'd run Verlander out there on short rest tomorrow (I would only do this in the DS) and then have Cole ready on normal rest for Game 5.

Running Verlander out there tomorrow means no Cole to go a couple innings after Verlander's normal rest start in G5. Unnecessary risk, IMO.

The last time the Astros lost an ALDS game 3 by the score of 10-3 was in 2017.

Thats a great move.. Even if they lose, they can throw Cole in Game 5.. But if it goes 5, I do like the Rays.

Makes sense because if they win, they can start Cole Game 1 and Verlander on Game 2 on normal rest and even if they don't can still get four starts from those guys if they win Game 5 (Games 2, 3, 6 and 7 in the ALCS presumably).

The more innings those two can burn in this series, the better. Tampa should win game 4 too.

That Twins fan had the right idea on the Gleyber HR—fan interference is the only chance that gets taken away. If he wore a Yankees hoodie he would have had a better chance of getting the call.
