I got a subscription for Christmas, 1975, when I was in 6th grade. My first issue:

Used to show up in the mailbox on Fridays. I would run home from school to get it. I used to try to guess who would be on the cover.

I remember being incredibly pissed off when Greg Lemond didn't make the cover after being the first American to win the Tour. Instead, we got this:

I finally gave up my subscription in about 2010. I just wasn't reading it as much, and it was getting too expensive.

Favorite cover to ever get signed by either my brother or myself. I will have to look for it next time I am at my parents. Mr. Rose was not pleased when he saw the cover.

Fucking long rebound.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

My buddy has all the telltale physical signs for marfan, (tall, weird caved in chest below the sternum) and the Flo Hynam thing freaked us out. (We were 15/16 when that went down.)

My freshman year me and a couple guys went into Manhattan to see a movie we were referring to as “The Elle MacPherson Box Movie”. I think it was called Sirens.

Oh yes! My room growing up was covered in sports posters and pictures cut from SI. Except the inside of my door. Every picture of Ms. McPherson from the swimsuit issues. All time fav. She is the first on my Mt. Rushmore of all time crushes.

Yup, I had a bunch of cutouts from those issues - Elle, Kathy Ireland, and Paulina were my faves - in my room in high school. I think I even brought them to my dorm freshman year of college.

Yes, it was Sirens. That's the first place my mind went when I saw that cover pic.

I had an autographed copy of the Kathy Ireland 1989 issue, given to me by my girlfriend.
