Did Jay Williams really setup a Go Fund Me page for a basketball player who is going to make tens of millions of dollars in about 7 months?

So we should feel sorry for him because he’s 18 years old and not yet a worthy credit risk? This is nonsense.

Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
Just so we’re clear: Wiseman should just laugh at everybody and tell them all to fuck off. The NCAA, Memphis, everyone. Then go get your ass drafted and pay the stupid donation to some charity. But leveraging a GoFundMe for donations from people who may otherwise give their finite resources to a more worthy cause is grotesque.

I’d imagine he’d want to clear his mother’s name from any of the lunacy. If it were me, I’d donate twice that amount to St Judes and tell the NCAA to go hound them for their funds.

What would that accomplish? Or is that a typo?

I don’t have the wingspan to enter the draft, much less be the #1 overall pick. But I did in my scenario.

Ha! We were at dinner with another couple and saw they were playing, so we joked to my wife (SFA alum) they'll pull off the upset. Wake up at 2:00am to pee and check my phone to find about 10 messages in a group text I'm in with some buddies, one of whom went to SFA. I cannot imagine his hangover this morning. I really hate that I didn't watch it live.

Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
MI knocks off a pretty good (eyeball test) Iowa State team to open up the tournament down in the Bahamas.
I know it's incredibly early, but with the talent that Juwan inherited, and some of the greener guys looking very sharp to start off... This team should be in the mix for the B1G title. They are solid defensively, and they continue to run a very tough defend offense.
Zavier Simpson, Jon Teske and Isiah Livers are the nucleus, but you've got 4 or 5 other lights out shooters that rotate in, and all of them understand the defensive system.
They're unranked right now, but I'd be pretty surprised they remain so after this weekend.

Crazy.
Rutgers lost to St. Bonaventure a few weeks ago.
Also, Rutgers calls their sports portal RVision. Took me a minute to stop thinking they were saying ReVision. Fucking Rutgers, man.

Wow. They pretty much thumped UNC yesterday, and a blowout just now against the Zags.
Now, Gonzaga is very beat up, and so their bench is doo doo right now and it was obvious they were gassed, so... grain of salt.
Still, for anyone doubting the Howard hire... Time to re-evaluate your shit. This team knows who it is, and that starts at the top.

After W/L - I confess to not knowing what those other numbers are or their significance.
Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
It’s Pomeroy’s calculation of Adjusted Offensive and Defensive Efficiency, along with the delta (Adjusted Efficiency Margin). I believe he just takes the standard per/100 possession calculations and adjusts for strength of opponent. I’m not sure how much work the schedule adjustment factor does, but as context the range of per/100 possessions efficiency ratings for teams over an NBA season is usually between 100 (great D/bad O) and 115 (great O/bad D). UVA’s current defensive rating of 78.9 is reflective of basketball that is NSFW.tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 6:27 am After W/L - I confess to not knowing what those other numbers are or their significance.
ETA: UVA’s defensive rating is particularly obscene when you consider that it doesn’t even factor in the fact that they also play at one of the slowest paces of any D-I team. So their opponents are making shots at a historically awful rate while also playing at an extremely slow tempo. That’s why UVA’s style of play draws a lot of complaints.
Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
I won't argue your points, but I will say that the lowest defensive efficiency for a season in the Pomeroy era (since 2002) is Kentucky's Anthony Davis team with an 84.4. It's very early in this season, but UVA's rating is incredible.Joe K wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 8:27 amIt’s Pomeroy’s calculation of Adjusted Offensive and Defensive Efficiency, along with the delta (Adjusted Efficiency Margin). Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
so Mark Turgeon gets a reputation as a bad game coach but good recruiter. Well he did a good job against Markus Howard from Marquette. Howard had 91 in the first 2 games of the Orlando invitational....and 6 yesterday. Terps just pressured him off ball and made him work. Big change from the highly ranked Terps who have trailed unranked teams all year. On Saturday they were down something like 15-0 to start the game to Harvard (Harvard's PG Aiken is fun to watch). Nice weekend for the Terps when you continue your undefeated run, pickup a tournament title, and beat 2 ex-blue devils.
On a side note, watching the Temple game I had a moment where I was a bit surprised not to see Chaney on the sideline.

Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
Pedantic to point out that its not even a comp since Kentucky had to run through their conference schedule?
Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
The rating is adjusted, so it should account for competition. But of course, the more games you play, and the more good teams you play, the more the numbers should move to the mean.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
Georgetown just lost two of their best players off the team. Reddit has some thoughts on why. Hope this means playing time for George Mureșan.

Re: NCAA Hoops 2019/2020
So, I read a couple articles, but it is unclear (at least, to me) if they were removed from the team after they put their names in the transfer portal, or if they were dismissed/suspended for some reason, and then that prompted them to put their names in the transfer portal.

I'm just remember them always being listed in the SI top 25 wondering who that was since they didn't have a football school. I randomly would root for them and Hersey Hawkins' Bradley teams in the 80s.

CMU blew a 15-point halftime lead against them a couple of weeks ago. Ended up losing by 18.
