A fun bit of Puck Trivia

Post by wlu_lax6 »

You name the NHL team and the Hall of Famer with the fewest games played for that team. For example Paul Coffey played 18 games for the Bruins (but he is actually not the HOF with the fewest games for Boston). Oh don't cheat and pull the article that I just found on the Athletic on this topic.

Correct
Anaheim Ducks - Adam Oats 67 games (goodkarma)
Arizona Coyotes- Brett Hull 5 games (sancarlos)
Boston Bruins- Sylvio Mantha 4 games
Buffalo Sabres - Dick Duff 61 games--Fuhr had 64
Calgary Flames Fuhr 23 games (degenerasian)
Carolina Hurricanes- Bobby Hull 9 games, Recchi 20 games (ryan)
Chicago Blackhawks - Herb Gardiner 4 games in 26-27
Colorado Avalanche- Andreychuk 14 games (degenerasian)
Columbus Blue Jackets - Federov 185 games (goodkarma)
Dallas Stars - Sergei Makarov 4 games (san carlos)
Detroit Red Wings -Doug Harvey 2 games
Edmonton Oilers - Adam Oates 60 games to end his career
Florida Panthers- Igor Larionov 26 games
Los Angeles Kings -Billy Smith --but Iginla will get this with 19 games when he goes to the Hall
Minnesota Wild - No Hoffers
Montreal Canadiens- Tony Esposito’s 13 games as a rookie
Nashville Predators- Forsburg 17 games (degenerasian)
New Jersey Devils- Phil Housley 22 games
New York Islanders LaFontaine 530 games (mr. d)
New York Rangers- Harry Lumley 1 game
Ottawa Senators Hasek 43 games (mr. d)
Philadelphia Flyers- Oates 14 games in 2002 (sancarlos)
Pittsburgh Penguins Tim Horton 44 games (mr. d)
San Jose Sharks - Belfor 13 games (sancarlos)
St. Louis Blues - Gretzky 18 games (Ryan)
Tampa Bay Lightning - Recchi 62 games
Toronto Maple Leafs - Phil Housley 1 game , Gerry Cheevers had 2)
Vancouver Canucks- Mats Sundin and his 41 games
Vegas Golden Knights ---N/A (Mr. D)
Washington Capitals- Federov 70 games (nonlinear)
Winnipeg Jets - Chris Chellios 7 games (mr d)

This is when being part of the Original Six(tm) makes things less fun. My best guess would be Bure but I'm sure there's some guy who played before skates that's the real answer.

Yeah Flames will be Jagr for sure.

Nope--you have Ciccarelli at 111 games and Denis Savard’s 105. They also have 13 games of Gretzky (Brent Gretzky ..not a HOFer) but you guy is 62 games in the 08-09 campaign

Grant Fuhr, whose 23 games in 1999-2000 take the crown.
Jaromir Jagr’s 22 games will steal the spot as soon as he goes in
Curtis Joseph and his nine games if he makes the HOF

Yup. Franchise history only gives us five names to choose from. Teemu Selanne’s 176 games is the most ever played in San Jose by a HOF inductee, Rob Blake’s 143 and Igor Larionov’s 97. 1997 rental Ed Belfour, 13 games.

Can a guy be named for two separate teams? Cuz the Caps had both Federov and Housley for a couple of years. Of those two, my memory is that Federov wasn't on the ice as much as Housley.

Yes a player can be listed multiple times.
Fedorov, whose 70 games earns him Washington’s title. Housley had 141

This was born out decades later in his ill-fated stint as Caps head coach. The deer in the headlights look on his face was almost like a mask he slipped on, it was so constant.

Don't see Lafluer on the list.

Okay for the Ducks
Not Chris Pronger or Scott Niedermayer, not Sergei Fedorov’s 85-games, nor Jari Kurri’s 82. But the winner here is a guy who dropped by for one season near the end of his career. He played 67 games and is actually already an answer that has been found for another team.

Okay let's put Carolina on the board. Two valid answers for this one as you can go with the Whale or Whale-less.
For the Whale---we have someone sharing a last name with someone we have identified.
For the Whale-less--- He has won a Stanley Cup in 3 decades (91, 06, 11), Born in Kamloops. Last player active in professional hockey who had played in the NHL in the 1980s
