Nonlinear FC wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 5:19 pm Kirk is probably my favorite OSU alum. Have to say... That was a little weird, TBH. I'm all for the sentiment, but... Like... I dunno. How is this hitting you in the feels at this point? Like, you're just now getting a lump in your throat over this?

Must of us are just numb, having processed and grieved on this for many months, if not years.

I guess it's the first time he's been on the GameDay "set," so his emotions got sideways on him?

Again, not trying to give him shit, I just found it an odd moment.
I know I’m late on this, but I really think it was genuine. For the media folks who do college athletics, they are coming into contact with these kids when their youth experiences are still really raw. I got the impression that Kirk has spent a lot of time talking to kids and coaches and what some people go through just landed on him hard. Add in that his own kids are now getting to a similar age...

Personally, I didn’t fully grasp what it was like to be a young black male until my late thirties when I started to get some close black friends. When my friend, who is a damn good professional, is telling me over lunch he gets pulled over about once a month. How when he taught his kids to drive the first lesson was how to handle it when getting pulled over. How he and his ex wife, who was a cop, got cuffed a block from their house because the cop didn’t like that they were driving slow and thought it looked suspicious.

I think Kirk went through a similar thing. How ever he got woke I don’t care. As another who wears his heart on his sleeve, I could really relate to him.

Hey they told the students to put their masks on when the cameras were coming!
Florida State did not bother with this step.
The internet vids of Tallahassee yesterday make me think there's no way the season gets finished.
They're going to stink this year, but Syracuse is a winner because Florida State fell off their schedule in the overhaul. It was a home game in mid-November, but still.

I'm sorry, if four players tested positive, how in the world are there only 6 others "caught in contact tracing?" This is football we're talking about, right?

Deion Sanders is now the coach at Jackson State and has reportedly hired Terrell Owens (WR) and Warren Sapp (DL) as position coaches.

Somewhat excited that the real season starts today. Not excited enough to counterbalance my thoughts that this is a terrible idea in so many ways.

What a wasted game for Kentucky. The refs kinda sorta fucked us but then we proceeded to really totally duck ourselves so it’s not worth quibbling.

This lsu Mississippi state game is fun so far.

Oh, there will be huge bumps in corona on these campuses.

I was not pleased to see that the two people who persistently would remove their masks (at least in part) in the press box when not eating/drinking were athletic department employees. Otherwise, their COVID procedures in the building were pretty good.

Pitt's Alex Kessman made a school record 58-yard FG on the last play of regulation to send their game with Boston College to overtime.

Then, he honked an extra point to force the game to a second overtime, sending the Panthers to defeat.

Even though Miami got crushed I thought they showed alot of heart and signs of being good in the future. Especially the defense which was hard hitting and they stuffed that last FU touchdown at the 1, even though they were down 27.
