Syracuse fanbase was in a tizzy because an offensive lineman who started most of last season at Florida transferred here in January, but didn't get immediate eligibility approved and the decision didn't even come until mid-September. Apparently, there was an incorrect medical diagnosis by the UF staff (he ended up getting surgery almost immediately after transferring) and the coaching staff was pressuring him to play through it late last season, eventually replacing him in the starting lineup.

But, guys going to the factories always seem to get cleared and those decisions get pub because of the factories, so I was curious.

yeah, the frequency of immediate eligibility waivers has really picked up -- especially as the immediate eligibility rule has gained steam towards inevitability

So, Rutgers wins the Michigan state championship?

And, I get a bit of schadenfreude seeing Nebraska shit the bed again, after they bitched and moaned so much about lack of a season.

Am I a bad person for posting scores to the twitter account of the Wisconsin fan who raised a ruckus about getting the Big 10 to play again, and when they did, compared it to storming the beaches of Normandy or killing Bin Laden?

Because I'm totally ok with it.

The most NJ kicker to ever miss a field goal in OT with a chance to beat Michigan. Dammit.

14 straight losses for New Mexico. Actually not the longest streak in FBS. (Akron, 20).

They suck. Have for most of the time I've followed them aside from the glorious 3-4 years in the 90s where we won like 7-8 games a season.

Maybe they beat Wyoming, but probably an 0fer for the season. The D isn't bad, they just get gassed (the offence really really sucks) and gets run over.

He's definitely hit the ceiling at Ames. I'd love for him to stay another year so I could maybe make my way to Jack Trice stadium for a game next year.

ETA - I suppose him staying or not doesn't really affect my ability to make it to Ames next year.

Finding it pretty funny that for 6 years, the rumors were about Harbaugh leaving for the NFL. I've been consistent even before dude was hired that UM is his dream job and he was a) going to take the job and b) wasn't going to the NFL anytime soon.

Now, maybe he SHOULD move back to the league, but he's not getting fired. And I highly doubt he's going to duck out after one bad year.

His inability to recruit and develop QBs at Michigan is beyond puzzling at this point.

The folks I talk to up there have also lost faith in his decisions. We'll see what happens with QB3 going forward, but the startling difference in his ability to run the offense versus whatever the hell Milton was doing after the first game is a prime example.

Sticking with Don Brown, despite the fact that the D consistently gets pantsed by teams running slants or with a half decent RPO QB got old 3 or 4 years ago.

And, yeah, it doesn't help Harbaugh that Juwan comes in and really in his first realistic recruiting year, he's currently got next year's top class. And on a smaller scale, but one that still matters to many in Ann Arbor, Mel Pearson has hit his stride and has probably the most talented young squad that program has seen (top to bottom) in over decade.

Like I said, I'm not saying he shouldn't be shown the door, just really noting how "funny" it is that there's always been some kind of shitty messaging around him. I get that he brought that on himself, to some degree. But especially when it comes to the notion of if he really wanted to be there, ppl really just don't get him and his attachment to that school and that town.

I remember a few years ago, he recruited some kid from Albuquerque who was supposed to be the best high school quarterback the state had produced in decades. He went to Ann Arbor, and (I am told) Harbaugh promptly told him he was now going to be a tight end. My father said a lot of New Mexicans were pissed about that.

He went to Eldorado (where I taught for a few years. It's Jim Everett's HS. When I taught there they threw maybe twice a game.) He did move to TE and is in the league with the Steelers. 6'6 230 in HS! He trucked some boys from Valley.

You taught at Eldorado? You must know Roy Sanchez then...the basketball coach (3 state titles). I went to High School with him. Great guy.

I saw Jim Everett play in High School...back then Los Alamos HS was in the same division with Eldorado. It was insane how much big/stronger/better he was then everyone else on the field. I swear he stood there in the pocket, with LAHS guys bouncing off him, waving to his receivers as if to say 'No, go deeper, I can throw it further than that'.

is Michigan really going to play 2021 with a coach whose contract expires at the end of the year? that's basically an unprecedented move in modern college football.

SUNY-Buffalo’s Jaret Patterson just had his 7th rushing TD. On the day! He’s about 60 yards away from the FBS record for rushing yards in a game as well.

(That’s a new MAC record for rushing TDs in a game.)

Make that 8 now. Ties NCAA record. He has 385 yards and needs about 42 for single-game rushing record.

Broke MAC record for rushing yards in a game. Still 7:30 left

Syracuse down 36-29 with a minute to go and no time outs, but had first and goal at the 9. Run on first down for 2 yards, incompletion on second down.

3rd and goal from the 7, no one gets open. QB scrambles and scrambles and scrambles into a sack at the 19, setting up 4th/goal. A couple receivers are a little lackadaisical at getting back to the line, but get there and set. Ball is snapped with a second to go... and spiked.
