We might follow different people on Twitter but I haven’t seen anything from anyone that suggested otherwise.

there was a fair amount of local speculation it would be. but clearly not the case -- and if the cap keeps going up, that could be a good value for the Chiefs.

the breakdown of the years will be interesting to see when the big jumps start to happen. his cap # for this year was something like $5.3M

this is a really good breakdown of Mahomes' contract. I was wary of that "guarantee mechanisms" term because, well, if there's a chance you won't get your money, the money ain't guaranteed.

If they cut the black man after keeping Cooper that's a really bad look.

It's a league that includes Kareem Hunt and others and used to have Greg Hardy in it.

Can't cut a guy for making asshole comments online.

I think a real difference between Jackson and Riley Cooper is that Jackson's was more stupid than malicious, unlike Cooper. That, and Jackson has discernible talent instead of being replacement-level.

Of course, both the owner and the general manager of the Eagles are Jews.

Which makes it harder for them to cut the guy, don't you think?

I have the utmost respect and love for Alex Smith (he turned Utah into a football school!) but he'd be insane to ever step foot on a field again.

I doubt he actually does come back for actual games, though he may come back to a training camp just to prove that he could have done it if he wanted to.

Is it a roster thing, like if Smith is on the preseason roster they can IR him, he gets his salary, and Washington collects on insurance on the contract? That’s a pretty magnanimous act by Washington if that’s the case, especially after the Trent Williams debacle.

2020 is already guaranteed for injury, so if anything it's setting up a way for the Redskins to get out of paying it.

"Bill Belichick elects against the 90-man roster/split-squad setup, as the Patriots release the following players: S Malik Gant, WR Will Hastings, QB Brian Lewerke, S Adarius Pickett, WR Sean Riley, QB J'Mar Smith, LB Kyahva Tezino, DT Courtney Wallace and WR Isaiah Zuber. This is significant because it allows the Patriots the chance to work as a full team, with 80 players, from the start of training camp."

Kind of massive for undrafted free agents and other unlikely guys. Belichick has had an undrafted guy make the roster for many years now. Some don't even get a shot anymore. Not even a two hand touch mini camp to show something. Entirely possible that a guy like Malcolm Butler would have been on this list. Jacobi Meyers. Sad really. Dreams dashed before they enter the facility. NFL should use this opportunity to run a D league simultaneously with the season for teams to find covid replacements.

All of the guy the Pats cut are deep deep roster guys. Cutting them now might allow them to get picked up by another team. There probably will be a UDFA on the team (Jeff Thomas?) but it wasn't going to be any of these guys. (though Hastings, maybe as he worked well with Stidham in college.)

Of course, they cut the one who studied infectious diseases at Harvard.

Dr. Duvernay-Tardif Leaves the Chiefs to Continue Providing Front Line Care to Covid Patients

The pride of McGill University will treat patients in Montreal this season rather than play football.
The 29-year-old from Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Que., has a medical degree from McGill University, and began working at a long-term care facility in Quebec as a patient attendant in April, less than three months after winning the Super Bowl.

Since none of the venues house MLB teams anymore with the Raiders in Vegas, the prudent thing would consider just starting the season in the new year. Prudent, sadly, doesn't necessarily equal the best pecuniary choice.
