They keep saying the BYE affects teams but the 49ers yesterday used their 12 days rest to smash the Vikings.

Chiefs are going to be up at the half.

Nothing sums up O’Brien as a coach as trying a fake punt inside his own 35 while refusing to go for it on 4th and 1 on the Chiefs 15.

I’m sure it’s probably happened, but I can’t remember a team going down 21 and then lead at the end of the first half.

I like to think Rex is diligently workshopping this in a quiet room and has no idea what’s happened.

I can’t believe Aaron Rodgers is 36. Where did the time go? How did he become someone you root for as a legacy player?

Him sitting for three years makes him older than he seems.

The Titans keep looking exceptional with Tannehill taking snaps and my brain can only keep circling back to the number of times local media have mentioned the Bears potentially bringing in Marcus Mariota as competition for Trubisky next season, even after the Bears canned offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich, who was Mariota's college coordinator and head coach.

Is Mariota young enough that he could punt* a year and kind of intern under a star QB with his skillset then hit UFA again in 2021, rather than look to compete in 2020? I'm assuming teams with a set veteran QB would have QB2 as an injury backup they trust can not lose and QB3 as a younger developmental player. If Mariota's skillset lines up with Aaron Rodgers and they aren't enamoured with whoever QB2 is, would it make sense for all parties or is that dumb?

Ha, yeah the takes are going to be unreal. Greg Roman's offense won four playoff games in 2012 and 2013 with Kaepernick at the helm (including 3 road games). But even though Jackson was markedly better this season than CK was in those years, this one game, where the Titans D forced 3 turnovers and was awesome on 4th downs, will be given an awful lot of weight.
Something was clearly wrong with the ducks Jackson was throwing in the first half but I'd actually be more hopeful if I were a Ravens fan than I was before the game. When they did get down he proved that he can move them down the field through the air, and relatively quickly. He ain't Patrick Mahomes but they'll just occasionally need him to not be Alex Smith. Need an actual wide receiver to pair with Brown and a better scheme for when you get down and can't run, just like last year against the Chargers. When they needed to throw it was often like they just called the same things but just had the RB start pass blocking.

Yeah but I don't really think it's about him learning. If he hasn't learned to be more aggressive by now, I doubt he will in the future. He really is an Alex Smith type IMO...Alex Smith almost got there one year in KC and he has all the tools but he just won't unleash them.

He can't make the Bears WR "Oregon open" in the NFL and Mariota won't let it go otherwise.

2014 wrote:2. TENNESSEE TITANS - Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

With all the above said, Mariota still looks like he has a really good chance to become a great QB and if I'm the Titans I either take that chance or trade the pick. Name 5 Titans players. You probably can't. They need all of the picks they can get.

The Titans can say what they want about Zack Mettenberger, but if you have a shot at an absolute franchise QB I think you have to take it. If Mettenberger becomes great, trade him like San Diego traded Brees. Shane Ray and Randy Gregory are off of their board I assume, as the Titans haven't taken a player who failed a combine drug test since 2013 when they took colossal draft bust Zack Mettenberger.

The main problem with Mariota isn't that his tape shows that he can't make NFL throws - it's just that he rarely had to do it so there isn't much tape available. What is available that I've seen often shows him making nice throws, especially down the sidelines, so I think Tennessee takes this chance even though their roster is complete garbage and their team store is probably selling Albert Haynesworth jerseys.
I forgot that Zack Mettenberger was a thing once.

It should also be noted that I loved on-field Jameis Winston and thought he'd stop making bad decisions when he had a good offense around him (and he has in Tampa by and large), and I hated Daniel Jones, but as the offenses in the NCAA just continue to get more and more impossible to defend it's going to become harder and harder to really judge guys. The NFL is going the same way but the windows are still always going to be smaller.

The Titans have been a boring franchise practically their entire existence in Tennessee. Except for maybe that three-week stretch 15 or so years ago when Billy Volek and Drew Bennett were setting the league on fire.

Maybe they didn't win anything of note when they were in Houston, but at least those Warren Moon teams were fun to watch.

Not as much fun as the 'Luv Ya Blue'/Earl Campbell/Bum Phillips teams. Their games against the Steelers were epic.

Mel Gray
Bruce Matthews

Yeah, and the new wave of "looking at signing Andy Dalton" since they just signed his former QB coach/offensive coordinator as their OC just ensures whatever path they take to "challenge Trubisky" this offseason will be the wrong one.

Memory may make him seem more epic, but he was probably the greatest RB I've ever seen. His prime was short (not surprisingly), but he was a monster.
