Well, there was less sexual assault in that video. So in one way it's better.

Not so fast...

Navy launches broader investigation into virus-stricken aircraft carrier
The Navy announced Wednesday that it is launching a broader inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus outbreak aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier, effectively delaying its recommendation that the ship's commanding officer be reinstated.

The announcement comes after Secretary of Defense Mark Esper previously declined to immediately endorse the Navy's original investigation into the issue which included a recommendation to reinstate Capt. Brett Crozier.
They are going to be digging DEEP to find some reason why the decision to fire the Captain was the right one. It's the Trump SOP: Never explain, never apologize.

Feels like we're turning a corner on the pharma side. Remdesivir cleared some hurdles so it works I guess. Oxford apparently is sticking its vaccine in people already and has manufacturing signed up. Both of those make me a lot more hopeful.

Effective 5/4, you will be required to wear a mask/face covering to enter Costco stores. If you thought the toilet paper fights in Costco were entertaining/frightening, wait until the videos show up of poor retail employees trying to stop people who won't adhere to this policy.

In NJ, we've been required to wear masks in most stores for weeks. From what I hear, the shoppers get on people for not wearing masks, so the employees don't even have to. Seen a bunch of people on FB calling out people for going for walks in the neighborhood without a mask. Fuck off, I don't need a mask when everyone is maintaining 20 feet passing each other on the street. I have to say, everyone is super conscious about crossing the street when heading towards someone else.

Yea outdoors is where I'm drawing the mask line right now. I'm fine with being overcautious when I'm going to a public place, but I'm not wearing a mask on dog walks. I stay away from everyone. It's not NYC.

Social distancing is also causing joggers and walkers to be in the middle of the street. A couple of times, I've had to swerve while driving to avoid them.

On the flip side, the roads around here are practically empty. Of cars. The amount of walkers and bike riders is exponentially increased.

I had to run some errands this afternoon and included a stop at a local drug store chain. I was appalled to find at least 3/4 of the shoppers were not wearing masks, and a majority of them were elderly. Surprisingly, no one was wearing any MAGA clothing but one was wearing an InfoWars t-shirt. Same difference, I know.

Which is fucking annoying, btw. What are people who are walking at them supposed to do? I had that situation with me and my wife out the other day and we just straight walked into someone's yard and glared at them. I did the WTF shrug and they seemed taken aback.

People are fucking stupid.

I posted on Fb the rant Seth Meyers did on joggers and bikers today. Hit a nerve some of my jogger friends. I don't give a fuck. Keep six feet, minimum, or your going to get put on blast.

Walmart in my town started requiring masks yesterday. That combined with their usual clientele created some comedy gold yesterday afternoon. I didn't realize going to Walmart was a Constitutional right as was decried by many. Must be #11 in the Bill of Rights.

Wanna be scared?

Inside Donald Trump and Jared Kushner’s Two Months of Magical Thinking
When the coronavirus exploded out of China, Kushner was the second most powerful person in the West Wing, exerting influence over virtually every significant decision, from negotiating trade deals to 2020 campaign strategy to overseeing Trump’s impeachment defense. “Jared is running everything. He’s the de facto president of the United States,” a former White House official told me.
But the scariest part?
The following afternoon, Carlson drove from his Florida home to Mar-a-Lago—surprisingly his first visit—and was astonished by what he found. The club that weekend was an alternate reality where coronavirus didn’t seem to exist. Down by the pool, Kimberly Guilfoyle was hosting a cocktail party for a hundred friends to kick off her lavish 51st birthday celebration. The guest list included much of Trumpworld’s elite, including Guilfoyle’s boyfriend Don Jr., Eric and Lara Trump, Lindsey Graham, Rudy Giuliani and Pence—even Tiffany Trump flew in for the weekend. Later that night, Guilfoyle break-danced.

Well, fuck.

Woke up yesterday with a headache and some on again off again neck pain. Ibuprofen and coffee in the morning and I felt better, basically normal for a Tuesday. Ran 5k when I got home at a decent pace and ached like hell at the start but otherwise felt good. Ran at a 7:45/m pace which isn’t too bad for an older guy part time runner. Not really a clear indication that I am ill, you know? Sitting on my porch to cool off after the run I did not feel great. Allergy sneezes were accompanied with shooting pains up my neck. Ate dinner and went to bed early.

Woke up this morning feeling identical, but now all my muscles were sore. Again, coffee and vitamin I and I felt normal all morning. This afternoon in a meeting (while socially distancing), my head started to swim and I had chills. Went to my office and temp was over 100. Given I’ve had a sore throat and a cough (but no other symptoms until yesterday/today), I now tick every box except lost sense of smell and taste. Smallish town Alabama doesn’t have any testing open after 4, so now I quarantine in our back room terrified that I will get the wife and child sick. Go to county health clinic in the morning.

I am a natural worrier, though not really a hypochondriac. Concerned now that my male rationalization and ability to ignore might have put my friends and family at risk. Here’s to hoping it’s just sinus infection, but that’s never come with these aches before.
