That actually brings up something I've been thinking about lately.

I just don't see any cops when I'm out and about. I've been wondering what they are up to, because it's kind of eerie.

I mean, people are driving like maniacs, for whatever reason, so if they wanted to be pulling them over speeding, that's on like the break of dawn.

But these images and videos where cops are doing this type of stuff, I'm always.. don't you mfers have anything better to do? Maybe they're just fucking bored? Not enough crime??

So, before you folks read it through a media based website, COVID 19 is here.

We incorporated a group of people who deployed directly from a base. They were all nasal tested by the government and yesterday 1 came back positive. Today it's up to 3.

And a person I work with came in direct contact with every person from the flight.

With the lack of testing, there are probably unreported outbreaks all over the place. After the fact, there will be a lot of towns/counties/countries with data of 500% increase of deaths in the spring of 2020 without the reports of confirmed cases to match the increase.

Black folks not faring well. Suspect it is more economic than racial but still facts. I have yet to have a white instacart person show up at my door. Uniformly latins and brothers out fixing streets and landscaping. This thing is really exposing economic inequalities. 83% is a huge number.

Yes. We have roped quarantine and isolation areas for incoming people. Just stay on the correct side and don't cross. I'm staying as far away as possible.

And unfortunately we just don't have masks for everyone. So some people are wearing neck gaiters or shemaghs. It's kinda shitty. Everything was fine until we started adding more people. But that's the thing, you have to calculate the risk involved. Otherwise I'd just be here forever instead of being replaced.

While I'm proud that my wife's system did the right thing and cut off all non-critical services and converted every ward into COVID treatment, they are going to get royally fucked. AFAIK, all or most NJ hospitals did the right thing out of pure necessity, but I don't know how any of them will survive. All revenue disappeared for 2 months, and they are only receiving a small fraction of payment to recoup the losses incurred from treating COVID patients. I haven't seen the media cover this much, but in a month or so, I think we are going to see major collapses in hospital systems. I really don't know how small hospitals will survive. They will likely be merged into larger systems out of necessity, or taken over by the States, which aren't in a position to financially fund hospitals at an adequate level. The last round of bailouts included hospitals, but it's a drop in the bucket.

If you mean lost revenue due to stopping "elective" services, I'd venture almost all of it is insurance. People who don't have insurance usually can't pay hospital bills so they end up forgiving and writing off massive amounts of unpaid bills. If you mean losses for treating COVID patients, it's both. They are treating uninsured COVID patients knowing they will never get paid, and I think insurance is only covering a small percentage of the costs to treat patients. It's extremely expensive due to all the additional PPE and running ventilators. Not to mention the costs of storing and moving all the corpses.

I put "elective" in quotes because it means anything that isn't necessary to prevent you from dying immediately in pandemic times. They cancelled all cancer treatment that wasn't necessary for immediate survival, heart surgery, you name it. The cancer ward was turned into a COVID ICU, the heart surgery areas, you name it. It was basically Non-COVID ICU and COVID treatment, not much else.

Earlier this afternoon my wife moved a 101 year old woman at the nursing home she is tracking to the RECOVERED pile. She had been fever free for weeks, and was doing leg lifts in bed.

She just died.

She had been out of the hospital for a week. They checked on her this afternoon and she was gone. I’m sure CV didn’t help but I don’t know if she’ll officially get added to the tally.
