Oh below for sure. I wouldn’t have to think twice about picking NOLA as my singular food city so add in Mexican and it’s an easy call.

I’m trying to think of the southern cities I’ve been to for atleast a full 24 hours... NOLA, Birmingham, Charleston, Memphis, Chapel Hill ... might be it? Never had white sauce while in any of them and probably didn’t know it existed until the last half decade or so.

That has my attention in a positive way. We've been pushing for a socially distanced outdoor graduation for Quinn's class for weeks with the admin. They have listened and they are trying, every little bit helps. That article reads like an exact roadmap to what we have proposed.

Wife has a birthday party in someone's backyard tomorrow. Two of the people attending just got back from the MD/DE beaches where apparently it was a complete shitshow in terms of wearing masks/social distancing. Bars were packed, apparently.

We are very torn about it. It is a dual b-day celebration (one has a B-day today, the other's is Friday) and they are her two best friends in this group. These folks are also very aware that we are taking this stuff very seriously and respect it.

But it's still taking a risk we'd rather not take.

The place sits at the end of a street with lots of restaurants. It is near Regan National Airport and now Amazon HQ2. Not uncommon for people to think...that is a good place to get a meal and have no clue what it really is. Never been.

A G.O.P. Lawmaker Had the Virus. Nobody Told Democrats Exposed to Him.
Democrats in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives on Thursday accused Republicans of keeping a lawmaker’s positive coronavirus test a secret to avoid political embarrassment, even at the risk of exposing their Democratic colleagues.

A Republican House member, Andrew Lewis, confirmed on Wednesday that he had received a positive test on May 20 and went into self-isolation. Mr. Lewis said that every lawmaker or staff member he had been in contact with who “met the criteria for exposure” was notified.

But Democrats disputed that, saying none of their own members were alerted even though some were in proximity to Mr. Lewis in committee meetings.

I think Trump not wearing a mask is a vanity thing. Not sure if he thinks it makes his response to COVID look weak or makes him personally look weak, probably a bit of both. I heard someone say it's because a mask would ruin his makeup. I like the thought of that being the reason.

And seriously, where the hell is Pence???

I think it's 75 percent vanity, and 25 percent "strategic."

Strategic in the sense that a national posture of "wear a mask" messes with the notion they have been pushing almost the entire time that this isn't really a thing for anyone to really worry about. You can't say "nothing to see here" while wearing a mask.

I'd also clarify that my definition of vanity includes feeling like wearing a mask would make him appear weak or scared.

I think it’s at least 50% “strategic,” although I put that word in quotes because Trump appears incapable of any type of actual complex planning. The signs have been there for several weeks now that the GOP is banking on the fact that by November the voters it needs will be bothered more by economic losses than the death toll of the pandemic. Considering that the virus is disproportionately hitting urban areas and particularly minority populations, you can see the grotesque “logic” behind that thinking.

He wants the adulation of saving millions of lives and avoiding the blame for the economic toll. I think it's clear the GOP know we need some limitations on opening the economy, but if they can pretend to fight for fully reopening, they can blame the Dems for the economic fallout. But I agree with your point, that he constantly acts like the tough guy/rebel and retweets or shows supports to people protesting the government, seemingly unaware that he IS the fucking government. I especially like when he Tweets shit calling out a specific member of his Admin or a government employee saying "this guy is bad, something must be done" or calling to fire someone. MF'er, you are the one who can fire them or act, so do something! I can't fathom how people can't see this.

Gaming taxes make up 18 percent of the Nevada state budget. Every month those revenues are reported to the state and are of course a public record. So April's report just came out.

For April:
The state collected $19,107 in taxes, based on the April 2020 revenue, compared to the nearly $51 million collected last year.

In percentage terms, revenue was down 99.61 percent. (The only gaming revenue came from mobile sports betting and online poker.)

Several cadets brought back for graduation at West Point test positive for Covid-19
About 15 cadets from the US Military Academy Class of 2020 who were brought back for graduation where President Donald Trump is scheduled to give the commencement address have tested positive for coronavirus, according to a US Army spokesperson.

So was COVID already at West Point? Or was COVID at where the graduates went home to and bright it back?

Regardless, it was just shitty all the way around to bring them back, but....forcing everyone to do dumb shit collectively is literally how the military works so it makes me chuckle as the old, crusty sergeant that the lieutenants were victims of a dumb decision. (I just wish it would've been for something not potentially life threatening though so I could laugh harder.)
