Alaska lawmaker blasted airline for ‘mask tyranny.’ Now she’s banned from the only flights to the capital.

Last week, a police officer responded to an Alaska Airlines terminal in Juneau as state Sen. Lora Reinbold clashed with staffers over mask rules. It was a familiar battle for the Republican lawmaker, a vaccine skeptic who has blasted flight attendants as “mask bullies” and accused the airline of “mask tyranny.”

Now, she isn’t welcome on their flights at all. Alaska Airlines this weekend banned Reinbold “for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” the airline said in a statement to The Washington Post.

That’s a serious problem for the lawmaker, because Alaska Airlines operates the only regular flights to the state capital from her home in the Anchorage area, the Anchorage Daily News reported. Reinbold scrambled on Sunday to get to Juneau via an arduous 14-plus-hour car ride, including a jaunt through Canada, to reach a ferry to the capital.

If anything, they can't possibly be getting a lot of ad dollars from Tucker anymore. Does anyone know of any of these companies besides My Pillow? Fox News is still a business. They have shareholders that are looking for profits, right?

My friend was badgering me to start watching John Oliver again, and after hearing the Pod Save guys calling Tucker a White Supremacist, I pulled up this clip. I really thought my friend and the PSA guys were exaggerating, but this is pretty compelling.

Fox News makes more from subscriber fees (if you get the channel, you're paying for it, even if you don't watch it) than advertisers.

Fox News makes more from subscriber fees (if you get the channel, you're paying for it, even if you don't watch it) than advertisers.

That's the kind of business analysis I expect from a politics writer. If they are getting $1.2B from advertisers - nearly 50% of their revenue - I promise you it absolutely is critical to their survival.

But this is a political analysis, not a financial one. We know this because its all retrospective; Carlson doesn't generate ad revenue but Carlson still holds a prime-time spot. The $1.2B is a result of their decision to prioritize message over revenue.

If I'm not mistaken, the distribution of the bundling fees is based on ratings.

There are a ton of networks up here whose existence is almost solely supported by the fees charged by the cable companies.

Just found out that one of my next door neighbour's kids had Covid 10 days ago. Yesterday, there was a birthday party for his brother at their house and their must have been 30 people there.

Yes, they are Orthodox Jews.

I'm back in Spokane to move my daughter out of her dorm. And I'm amazed how many people aren't wearing masks.

We were in REI yesterday evening, and there was an older guy arguing with a younger man, who was refusing to wear a mask. I couldn't let the older guy deal with it alone, so I said 'just wear a mask...every one else is. And there's a sign on the door saying Masks Required'. And the guy just exploded about how he knows more about Covid then anyone else, that he's a grown man making his own decisions, and that masks don't work. Then he told me to mind my own business. I said 'you not wearing a mask is my business'.

Then a manager showed up and took over. The guy was ranting about how he spends thousands of $$$ in that store, and the manager said 'doesn't matter, you have to wear a mask. If you don't want to wear one, you can shop online'. Then the guy said 'I'm going to cancel my membership'. And she said 'Let me get the customer support # for you'. Finally the guy stormed out of the store.

What a nightmare...

My parents are up and it was just warm enough to sit outside last night so we hit a local fave and I had my first non-homemade burger since before COVID and it was fucking great.

We’re friends with the manager on duty and she was talking to us last night when the hostess came out and said three customers came in and wanted to be seated without masks, was that ok? She said no, mask up or leave. They left.

Literally if any article calls them "leaks" it's bullshit. They were obtained via FOIA. So you can gauge entire articles by that one word.
