To be fair - for North Dakotans, a Great White show would be huge.

ETA:
Earlier in the month, former GREAT WHITE and current JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell blasted people who refuse to wear a mask in public spaces to protect others from possible infection.
So, not even "vintage" Great White.

Beach town a little ways east of Toledo on Lake Erie. The island where he took that pool picture is nothing but a summer party place that is functional about 30 days of the year (weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day, plus July 4).

That general area is full of braindead fucks.
Same town.

Yes - the whole week has been a stock exchange bloodbath - which is why the Cheeto is trying to limit information re the virus.

I am (not really) missing my family reunion today.
Sorry to jump in on this late...was not online this weekend. The island mentioned is my hometown. I was just there on Monday for a few hours. Every employee that works on the island just got tested this past week since a few tested positive the week prior...I have not heard the results yet. The county and national guard worked to get it done in two days. The business owners have been taking it seriously and attempted to use precautions but this was inevitable due to the nature of what a large chunk of the island’s economy entails. Dsafe is not entirely correct about functionality...it’s home to around 400 full time residents and another 600 or so summer resident and can be a nice place for a family vacation during the weekdays.

I just left the area (not the island itself but the peninsula across the lake) a few hours ago and said to myself on my drive back to Columbus “lots of Trump flags around here”.

Where Dsafe is correct...the area has a super majority of brain dead fucks.

On my one visit there, I could not imagine actually living there. Everything just seemed about two steps more difficult and expensive due to being out on the island. I don't recall seeing a school there (mid-90's). Did kids have to commute on the Jet Express?

There is a school just outside of the downtown area. K-12 has anywhere from 70-100 kids. There were three of us in my graduating class (one of them was an exchange student - story for another thread). My sister's class had 7, I think. Largest class ever was 14; there have been eight or so single-person classes. I was the only person in my grade from grades 6 through 9th. Some kids boat or fly over from Middle Bass & North Bass (the two islands to the North).

http://www.put-in-bay.k12.oh.us/

It was an inconvenient upbringing but, just like anything else, you get used to it...especially when it's the only thing you know. Three things about every day life still amaze me:
1) I can go to a grocery store or get food from a restaurant at almost any time of day and there are so many choices
2) Trash gets picked up from my house (used to have to throw trash in the back of our truck then run it out to the landfill/incinerator ourselves)
3) Mail/packages can get delivered or picked up from my house (we had to go to the Post Office every day)

Caveat: I don't have children. I know everyone's situation is different regarding work and their individual kids (Ex: BFJ's son missing the social side of everything)

That said, the idea that anyone that lives anywhere with any type of infection rate above a very low threshold is thinking about holding in person classes of any nature right now is beyond me. It comes off poorly to me, as if you're tired of watching your kids and you were used to them being in school so you're willing to place teachers (who are already woefully underpaid and supported, at least in the Midwest), administration, support staff, custodial workers, etc, in the line of fire for this shit to put your kids back into school. I understand that there's nuance in all of this. Your kids might be miserable at home, making it hard for you to work, you might be worried about how this will reflect on their future opportunities for college, there's a million little things.

But the outright refusal to acknowledge the risk this presents to staff and whomever the little germ factories come into contact with on their way to and from and after is terrible. I don't know what the answer is, but for well over half the country it isn't sending kids to in-person classes next month.

Which is ridiculous when you consider that the GOPs version of education is "whites only," they'd teach the Bible in history class, and make you pray after the pledge of allegiance.
