Sure, I murdered those 20 people, but let's not bring the justice system into this. It was merely a dispute amongst friends.

I love all the pushback on the House seeking to form a committee to study how the government responded. The House studies the response to every disaster, because how the fuck else do we learn what worked and what didn't? We will face a similar crisis in the future, so let's learn how to better handle it! I think everyone knows they will find mistakes, there will always be mistakes in managing any crisis. But of course, it's more important to protect the King rather than protect the people from the next crisis.

OTOH, everyone knows they will find shockingly deplorable examples of extreme corruption in order to benefit friends, family and donors of the President. We need to know what happened, and the asshole has somehow been able to hide everything from his tax returns to the testimony of his entire Administration so far, so I'm sure he will skate by once again, proclaim himself the Drainer of the Swamp and boast about being the most transparent President in history. Honest Abe wishes he could have been as transparent and honest.

Love this line:
Note that Donald Trump visited a mask factory two days ago in Phoenix, where he didn’t wear a mask.
I saw pictures of the tour, he was the only one NOT wearing a mask. And FFS, you are in a mask factory, wear their product! What After Pence being shamed into apologizing for not wearing a mask at the Mayo Clinic, this asshole can't wear a mask? I'm amazed Trump hasn't gotten the virus, or if he has the info hasn't leaked. He never stopped going out in public and shaking hands, and he has appeared with several people who have tested positive.

You guys who have seen The West Wing know how often the president's valet comes into contact with him. You'd have to estimate about at least a 25 percent probability Trump tests positive in the next few days. Probably higher, but i'm not gonna pretend to be a virologist.

Probably! (That does sound right. If they didn't do that, they should have because it would have been hilarious I'm sure. That show was at its best when Selena was piling on Gary.)

FWIW, the DOJ official who investigated the Flynn prosecution and made the recommendation to drop the charges is Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney based in St. Louis. Jensen is very well regarded here and has a strong reputation. He's certainly not known as a partisan hack or Trump lackey.

Also, there were some sketchy things with the conduct of the FBI and the Mueller prosecutors with respect to Flynn. The FBI had already concluded that Flynn wasn't working with Russia and made a recommendation to close its investigation of him before the interview in question took place. Also, the prosecutors withheld exculpatory evidence from Flynn's attorneys until recently.

And actually did lie to the FBI, and did knowingly violate the Brady Act by illegally negotiating with Russian government Agents on behalf of the US while Obama was still in office. Not to mention all the nefarious shit with the same government agent, Ambassador Sergey Kislyak who was a known Russian spy. Yeah, the same Sergey Kislyak Trump proudly invited into the Oval Office on approximately the same day Trump divulged top secret information obtained from Israeli Intel to the Russians. Fuck, I could spin this yarn out into a book...

With the US unemployment rate now officially at it’s highest since the Great Depression this is a good proposal.
Is it just me or has Harris been significantly better on policy as a Senator than as a Presidential candidate?

Not just you. She's great in hearings too, but was so milquetoast as a candidate. The prosecutor background isn't fantastic for prison reform, but her trial skills are legit.

First go round she made some errors but she could be very good in the future. Especially if she's Vice President.

Does that Senate plan align with the House plan?

Too bad Mitch McConnell will never let anything like that happen.

Puts pressure on them (especially swing state Senators up for re-election) and Trump in an election year though.

Also at least a couple of GOP Senators, like Josh Hawley from MO, have been advocating for more aggressive relief efforts than what you’d typically expect from Republicans. McConnell ordinarily can keep his caucus unified but the Harris/Markey/Sanders proposal is at least worth a shot.
