I agree 110% with this.

Regarding Mary, whatever. As far as I can see, the only benefit of her book is that it keeps Donald under pressure and acting like a whackjob, which will further alienate any persuadable voters in the middle.

Love the message, and I'm shocked to see a group of GOP insiders taking down mainstream GOP Senators, most of whom are up for reelection. Lincoln Group guys are responsible for turning the Party into the shitshow it's become. Strange times.

ETA: I just find this, and some of their other ads hard to follow with all the quick cuts and flashing. I can't "remember their names" when the screen is flashing and they are jump cutting 30 times instead of just showing the Senators. Just show a picture or a scene and slowly zoom in on their face with their name below in large font. But, WTF do I know.

I’m refreshing SCOTUSblog every fifteen seconds. Ruling on Congressional subpoenas in seven minutes.

7-2, with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh on the right side about the tax records.

I'm not a lawyer, but is there language that they pushed it back down the ladder at the end of the decision?

Edit: Yeah, they kicked it back down. It's going back to court to argue about each one. Unlikely that we see anything before election, I imagine.

Yes.

Apparently a footnote in that decision indicates Trump loses the congressional subpoenas case too.

This one kicked back to the lower courts too. So they’re letting Trump run out the clock.

Though if RBG and SS are on board, perhaps it’s the correct decision?

Pretty fucking annoying, but I get it.

The Supreme Court doesn't want to appear political. They know an immediate release would affect the election. So it seems like a cover for Conservatives.

It looks like some power brokerage amongst the Justices to preserve some semblance of apolitical existence.

Hey, as long as it still gives us ammo to say "Trump is a pussy who won't show his tax returns", I'm cool with this decision.

From where I see, it looks like New York state can get them before the election.

Yeah, his people are touting his amazing job because the experts predicted 2 million dead Americans, so Trump is phenomenal, and the Liberal Media is unfairly attacking him. Meanwhile, the asshole is threatening to cut funding to schools who insist on formulating a plan to return. I imagine that has to sit wrong with at least some of his hardcore base afraid to send their children back to school.

The polling really is dire. Especially considering how weak and attackable Biden was supposed to be - and given that Biden has, as pointed out in the other thread, really not done much public campaigning for months. His COVID response has been SO shitty and the consequences SO dire that I think that is really a thing that has very badly wounded him. Every effort they have made to change the subject (BLM, antifa, monuments, defund police, librul colleges, etc etc ) have failed because the COVID nightmare overwhelms everything. The subject cannot change. That's a major problem for the cheeto. And continues to rob him of his propaganda rallies to boot.

No matter how legitimate the criticism, nothing Trump says is going to land because everyone -- even his supporters -- knows he full of shit about everything. That's the problem when you're just spewing diarrhea on Twitter non-stop for 10 years.

Sure. That's all they got. The ads are full blown Willie Horton already that I have seen from the official campaign during commercial breaks on channels like TBS after 8:00 pm. I just don't think any of it sticks or resonates like it did in the past as long as Covid is a thing and that the fuckawful response to it led us to this juncture. That's on him and people know it, outside of his echo chamber. And he can't win with JUST his echo chamber.

[broken record]

Trump entered the race, primarily, as a branding exercise. Winning wasn't the point, it was building up his cred with the Fox News audience so he could launch his own channel.

Smash cut 3.5 years later and he's still trying to win the GOP primary. He's not trying to govern or lead on any level, really. He's just continuing to spew nonsense and continuously pandering to his fucking moron base.

What's truly amazing is that he's such a sociopath, he can't see that actually leading on the pandemic response isn't just "the right thing to do" from a humanitarian and governance standpoint... It's the right thing to do POLITICALLY. It's one of the easiest calculations EVER, in the history of this country, that leading us through this with any level of competence likely gets him re-elected.

As I've been saying since 2016, the blessing in all of this is that he's SUCH a FUCKING MORON (as are the dregs of humanity around him), that he's seen by even his own followers as a blowhard on Twitter, and by the rest of us as the worst president in modern times.

What this boils down to is Trump doesn't want to do the job of President. He wants to hold rallies, have every praise him, get to puff his chest out and push around leaders of other countries, and pal around with his strongman dictator idols. He wants to see Fox News say nice things about him, and when they don't, he'll switch over to OAN. I'm kind of surprised he didn't start his own network despite being in the WH. Have Jr. run it with Eric's wife as the lead anchor. Actually, they already are doing that on a smaller scale. Imagine if a sitting President started his own news network. That is so absurd, yet I'd be surprised if Trump hasn't tried to get it up and running.
