Fuck, I agree with Pat Robertson. That has to be a sign of the apocalypse. Pat is looking really bad. He's lost a lot of weight since I last saw him.

That bunker story is hilarious to me. "Uh, of course I can swim. I'm a fantastic swimmer, I'm just making sure this life jacket works. An inspection, if you will."

Its so idiotic. Why didn't he just say 'The Secret Service took me into the secure location'. Just like they did with Cheney on 9/11 (remember the 'man sized vault'?). Now he's spinning lies of 'I was only inspecting it!', which NO ONE believes.

And then you add this story: A Walk Meant To Convey Grit Evoke's Trumps Dark Side Instead

Now everyone is busy throwing everyone else under the bus for that shitshow of an idea. Ivanka, Hope Hicks, Barr, Esper....all of them.

I mean, it doesn't really move the needle, of course... But even the most ardent Trump hater would understand Secret Service moving him to a secure location with rioting going on in the streets near the WH.

He just can't handle ANYTHING that he thinks makes him look weak. (obvi) Can't get out of his own way.

I remember the Bush thing. Odds are the Yankees (down 2-0 at the time) never even make it a series if the entire Diamondback lineup wasn't teargassed before Game 3.

Never mind Bush (a month after 9/11), but to compare it to Churchill during the Blitz is incredibly offensive to any thinking person.

That's gonna leave a mark...
Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.
Cue the FoxNews talking heads calling Mattis a 'liberal sell out'.

Mattis always struck me as one of the smarter ones. Sooner or later, one of his former Cabinet secretaries was going to try and get on the right side of history before it was too late and it doesn't surprise me it's Mattis.

I think John Kelly feels exactly the same as Mattis. Doesn’t surprise me that actual military guys don’t think he’s worth a damn.

I think it's more to the cabinet, especially Esper. Considering Mattis has a pretty stout cult following amongst the vetbro community, it might also be a signal for them too. And I would NOT want to be Milley right now.

I think all the services have gone full bore into the 'The Talk' today. General Goldfein and Chief Wright had a virtual Town Hall. I also saw that the other services are following suit. There has been a swift and definitive outreach via email. My local commander had a very thoughtful and reassuring message of positivity. My home station wing commander did the same.

This is a point where real life and and a worst case for the military exists. When the president wants to use you as muscle during mass riots over civil rights during a pandemic, leadership has to step up. The message of 'Fuck Trump' has to be subtle in the message of 'We're America and we need to be better.'

I've absolutely been heartened from what I've seen from the military leadership in that regard. I don't know about Esper or Milley, but I think a lot of the high leadership feels pretty upset by that stunt on Monday. At a minimum, they have to feel used by Trump, Esper and/or Milley.

Fantastic FB post from a military friend. She served 15 or 20 years in the Army, including time as an aid to Bremmer when he ran the Green Zone in Iraq, and is still a reservist. She was always Conservative, but more Left-leaning to Libertarian socially. We used to fight endlessly over Bush. I haven't spoken to her in years, and she has been silent on Trump on social media. She just posted the same link to Mattis and shared very similar sentiments. Very happy to see military people turning on Trump's blatantly unConstitutional abuse of the military to squash free speech.

I must have missed something. He spoke at a convention I was at last year and was clearly pulling his punches in questions about trump. I think I posted about it when it happened.

Well, social distancing is out the window... Either we will see some major spikes in COVID cases in 2-3 weeks, or we will end the limitations on what can remain open. While I love seeing all the videos of cops hugging protesters, they aren't fucking wearing masks! The NYC video was the worst. The highest ranking uniformed officer was in the middle of a circle of protesters holding hands and hugging everyone. He and the others speaking to him were all screaming to be heard over the crowd. All I could think about was how many people are getting COVID because of this.

If we don't see statistical spikes, its only because of the demographics involved in the marches.

People were outside, usually wearing masks and presuming trying to limit physical contact with others as much as possible.

I'm certain it will lead to more cases, I don't think it would be anything close to what even a single sold-out hockey game could have done.

Yeah, the polling is getting devastating for those fucksticks. The polls showing that 70 percent (!) of Americans agree with the protests is one of the most damning. Hoping some of these assholes start growing their spines back.

We've been saying this the entire time, and you pretty much said it, but I'll underscore it.

The ONLY reason The Fucking Moron is allowed to get away with this stuff is because the polling isn't scary enough for other electeds. Murkowski is a canary in the coal mine. She's seeing data that makes supporting the chief fuckstick untenable.

He completely fucked himself with COVID, and he's (almost unbelievably) doing even worse dealing with the protests. You contrast him with reasonable and presidential appearances with Biden and Obama... People just want some normalcy right now. Trump is the chaos president.
