We are so fucking doomed...
Man, of all the early Trump supporters on the 24 hour news networks, she was the most ridiculous/least credible. So much so, she all but disappeared for several years. Can't believe how low standards for Press Secretary have fallen. Then again, it's not like Spicer of Huckabee-Sanders comported themselves with any dignity.
Grisham figured out the job of Press Secretary...Never have any press briefings!

That being said it's gotta be one of the most difficult jobs you can get, particularly under King Donald I.

It's widely characterized, under any presidency, as the toughest PR position in the world. I have put myself in their position in the past, wondering how I'd fare. I think I would last about 2 weeks before I'd start getting tetchy with some conservative asshole.

But under Trump, it's not really a traditional role. Putting policy and ideology aside, the way he comports himself makes it a "throw your hands up, say fuck it" role that no real serious PR person would take.

Spicer is a joke, Sanders-Huckabee might not be a joke, but she's not taken seriously. And I honestly didn't even know he HAD a press secretary until this one got moved back to the first lady's office.

Seriously, that's an absolutely mortifying thing to have on your resume.

And as much as I love to pile on Trump the statement that “all of the Las Vegas hotels” is exceptionally nebulous. I doubt “all” is true even if it was limited to the Strip alone.

This upcoming election is going to be a complete and total shit-show/farce...

New Trump attack ad appears to suggest Washington state’s former Asian American governor is a Chinese official

A new attack ad by President Trump’s campaign that portrays former vice president Joe Biden as too cozy with China to confront the country over the coronavirus pandemic includes an image of Gary Locke, a former governor of Washington state, that appears to falsely suggest he is a Chinese official.

Locke, who is Chinese American and was serving as U.S. ambassador to China at the time, is briefly depicted onstage at a 2013 event in Beijing with Biden, now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. The clip is interspersed with others of Biden toasting the country’s leader, Xi Jinping, and criticizing Trump as xenophobic for imposing a travel ban on China following the coronavirus outbreak in that country.
And just for a throwback...here's Gov Locke at his finest:

If you want Trump to lose, you should be hoping for sports, especially football, to not start before the election. You know he will send the message that he helped "got football back" (see also: that conference call with commissioners from last week).

I don't think any politician took this seriously in February. It was like the Mayor in JAWS keeping the beaches open and telling people to get into the water.

Things weren’t closed yet here in February, but the “stay six feet apart” social distancing was certainly a part of our life.

I actually heard my Trump-loving parents give a lot of praise to California last night during our weekly family Zoom happy hour.

People were absolutely taking it seriously in February and California is the perfect example of how this country's experience with this virus could've been a lot better had most of the rest of the country done the same.

I don't remember our client really giving a shit about it when I got there in March (and they closed their retail locations while keeping corporate open with contractors on site while I was still there). One of the two restaurants I ate at allowed you to sit anywhere while the other (the following night) capped how many people they could seat at one time due to a new law (for lack of a better word).

If you back to page 3 of the original Captn Trips thread, it’s clear a lot of people took it very seriously in latter part of February, but certainly not everybody.

Access, as in they need it to do their jobs/advance their careers, or at least some journalists feel like they have to have it and act accordingly (sometimes they do need it, such as staying on a newsmaker's good side to get info, and, of course, the subjects being reported about will treat them accordingly.)

Of course, there are also the stupid who don't know any better (pretty faces on TV!) and the lazy who don't put in the work to know better.
