I don't know that it was ever a question.

All “never Trump” Republicans have ever wanted is just to turn the Democratic Party into a second right-wing party. Once they come to the shocking revelation that Democratic primary voters don’t actually like Republican policies they’ll all go slinking back to Trump.

Meghan McCain is the queen of white privilege. She's getting paid to be a "contrarian" on daytime TV because of who her father was.

Not only that, she loves talking about how she's a one issue voter (abortion) and she'll stick with the side that agrees with her on that. So if she's gets her abortion issue settled her way, she'll take the anti immigration, anti gay, anti woman, anti irreligious, pro war sentiments with it

Like, how fucking disgusting. You'd think the daughter of one of the most prominent American senators in history would take a full view approach to politics and understand what makes the most sense for all. But she'll tell you her father was John McCain the way a pilot will tell you he's a pilot. So, I guess it's not surprising.

Roger Stone gets sentenced to 40 months. Interesting sentence - Judge Berman Jackson sounded like she was going to drop the hammer, but this is a sentence that seems designed to dare Trump to pardon him. Anything more and he definitely would have.

ETA: And probably still will anyway. He doesn't seem constrained by carrying about what the public thinks any longer.

Unless its a Clint Eastwood movie like 'American Sniper'. I remember when Hannity lost his shit because it didn't win best picture.

OTOH, he could spout gibberish, and they'd all agree with it.

This reminds me of something I heard a comedian say about Bill Cosby. If you took a transcript of his comedy routines, you wouldn't imagine it could get a laugh. But he was such a master of cadence and speech patterns, that he could have said anything in that cadence, and people would laugh. If Trump said, "can you believe that guy Mitch McConnell?" in the same tone, everyone in the audience would have booed. Hell, half the time he rails about things that didn't happen and the crowd gets fired up.

So did Jim Jones. Trump rallies show how cult-like his following is. People cheered for fucking Gone With The Wind! That movie is terrible...and old...and way too long...and racist as fuck.

But it is an American movie and Americans have raised it to legendary status. It makes the top 10 in any best movie of all time list.

Again... GwTW is less racist than most think. It isn’t perfect but it’s probably much less racist than say... crash which is a truly abhorrent movie.

Maybe I just think it’s ok to make movies that reflect a time period but there are a lot of scenes in GWTW that are clearly sympathetic to the unions cause. It’s ok to tell stories.

(All that said parasite was a truly mind blowing experience as I have mentioned here. Both should be seen as masterpieces but from different times. That’s ok too. Remember don hutson would catch exactly zeronpasses if Charles Woodson was defending him. )

The sexism and misogyny in Gone With The Wind is probably more problematic than the soft racism but it’s a wonderful movie. Movies have to be judged by their era.

Would've been hilarious if Parasite's director said "Frankly, I don't give a damn" in response to Trump.

But saying "Understandable, he can't read" is also pretty good.

Aside from the fact that there’s a 0% chance Trump has ever seen a movie with subtitles, he would absolutely conclude that the point of Parasite is that rich guys shouldn’t hire drivers that smell bad.

(Aside: I gotta finish watching this movie. It's on a morale drive here and I had to stop 20 minutes in because work happened and didn't relent.

In other words, I'm not sure to what you are referring, but I'm sure I will soon.)

It never occurred to me until now that the United States is slowly turning into Russia (the modern Russia) and there's probably no coming back from it unless Trump loses this election (and even then, it might be too late)

The conspiracy theory part of my brain is convinced that Mulvaney has full-blown Covid-19, and that's why he's basically disappeared from public view.

It does seem like a very bizarre move to ship your Chief of Staff and Director of OMB to Northern Ireland. And I do see germaphobe Trump impulsively banishing a sick cabinet member to Northern Ireland. I'm not signing onto the conspiracy theory, just saying it has some legs.
