Keeneland Racetrack will have it meet but no spectators for at least the first two weeks. I'd imagine Churchill is planning contingencies as well.

Not that it's the most pressing concern...but they gotta let these spring sports athletes have an extra year of eligibility, right?

I was wondering about that myself. I'd hope so, but it's the NCAA so who the hell knows?

I watched Man U earlier and of all the sports, soccer is the one I guess I'm most used to seeing without many fans, anyway. Hell, when the fans wear their black coats (are those standard issue in England?) for EPL games it's hard to know if their are fans there.

Man, this shit is depressing. I hate it for all those kids who worked hard their whole careers, building toward a senior-year tournament only to have it disappear. Can you imagine for programs like Dayton or San Diego State who may never have seasons like this again? Or the Penn State kid who came back for his senior year, led his team to their best season in forever and will now finish 7 points short of his school's all-time scoring record?

I know it's not as important as people dying or anything, but removing sports just sucks so much fun out of life.

Nope, I agree. And not just sports, tons of kids are losing 2nd semester senior year. That's fun times!

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I am honestly surprised Russia has not started an aggressive expansion in every disputed (real or not) territory this week. They have been border fighting and land grabbing in form republics and towards the poles. Seems like a great time to take some space.

I think you have to really appreciate just how freaking lucky the NFL is. With the exception of likely having to cancel the public portion of the NFL Draft, this is going to have very little impact on them and in fact, they'll dominate the newscycles leading up to the draft since it will be the only league with any "real" news.

Hope you like mock drafts because by this time next week everyone in the freaking world will have posted one online.

So moments after my club email indicating no soccer effectively immediately, my indoor facility fired off a note saying, Games are on and they are offering drop off while school is closed. Last night they postponed our youth games, but made a point of saying they are open. I don't know about you but hygiene and indoor soccer facility don't line up.

The youth soccer league my kid plays for finally sent a letter last night postponing the season until at least 4/5. The last official word from our club was that they would cancel all training until 3/20, even though all of our teams are either in that league I mentioned above or EDP (which is directly controlled by USYS) so there won't be games at least until April.

The club sent out a pretty oddly worded message to everyone in the middle of the day yesterday about how during times like these "youth soccer organizations should do all in our power to keep kids engaged in soccer" so as to not be an additional problem for them (kids) to deal with.

In my message to my indoor team I sent links to couever drills and beastmode soccer footwork stuff. Figured you can do that while still social distancing.

for our club we had prepared our statement earlier in the week and were waiting to post/publish when NJYS and the league (same as Rass i think did) posted all on FB in the afternoon, released email to the whole mailing list..we told our coaches not to schedule anything .. or face getting banned.

the league.. i was at the league meeting last week and they were clueless.. so not surprised they didn't follow NJYS .. EDP and the intercounty leagues all following the same protocol. my kid's club, CSA promptly shut everything off as EDP did.
so far only one of our club coaches bitching about not being able to run sessions - we did lock up the goals though.

that said.. my saturday pickup game is still ongoing and the o40s pre-season scrimmage is still on (most adult leagues have cancelled as well, so expect that to be cancelled).. the pick up game list filled up last night.

Similar here. I think the indoor facility is under a lot more financial pressure. The big clubs already got their cash. This is what they sent me:

With the increasing number of cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) being reported across the world, XL Sports World's leadership has reviewed and will continue to monitor all domestic programming and leagues within the facilities. As part of this review, we are working closely in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other local and national agencies in real time to guide our decisions on best practices and interactions within the facility. Our main priorities are cleaning within our facilities and ensuring adequate communication is provided.
XL Sports World - What we are doing:
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
In addition to our existing daily professional cleaning services and in house sanitizing, our on-site maintenance team are dedicating more hours to increasing the consistency in which we cleanse all surfaces within our facilities.
Increased cleaning supplies have been delivered to the facilities.
Adding dedicated sanitizing stations in addition to our existing sanitizing protocols.
Sanitizing all equipment.
Communication:
As an additional layer of safety we are encouraging patrons to refrain from shaking hands before and after games.
Reiterating our existing policy of skipping your game or practice if you feel unwell.
Closely monitoring CDC recommendations.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
All programs, classes and leagues will remain in play until further notice.
Our primary commitment and focus at all times is the health and safety of our XL Sports World family. To help the community and based on parents requests, XL will have camps available during school closures.
