If Ryan is setting it up, it's closer to "brian's movie night". If I'm setting it up, closer to "the next Swampcast"

We did work happy hour last night and played some of their games. The ones we played have the same type of scoring as Cards Against Humanity where you're picking the funniest answer to a question. It's 8 players and each player gets 2 random questions to answer. For example:

What would Justin Bieber's fragrance line smell like?

You get like 60 seconds to answer the two questions. And only two people get a particular question. Then the players and audience vote on the best answer to that question. You can't vote on your own answers.

FYI, I got all 6 votes for "Maple syrup and regret".

That one's good. My other favorites are Fibbage, which is basically Balderdash but with news stories and real Tweets and stuff. And of course, You Don't Know Jack and Trivia Murder Party.

OK, I see now. I got confused during the thread when it jumped from haircuts to jackbox.

On another note, our county's school system began the official "non traditional instruction" this week after baseically an extended spring break. And I gotta say, they've done a really good job. So good that THEY SHOULD HAVE THESE SITES SET UP even when they are teaching in the classroom. So easy to keep up with what's due and when. As some of you know, handling that shit with an ADHD kid is a mess and this makes it so much easier to help stay on task. I see no reason why these google classrooms aren't a permanent part of it whenever they go back, which is looking like the fall at best case.

So does everyone need the game, or just one person who kicks it off and everyone else plays via phone?

The latter, but the phoners also need to see what's happening on the main person's screen, so that's where Twitch or You Tube or screensharing like Zoom comes in.

That is a pretty awesome post. Sig-worthy, even.

But, I didn't quite get it either. I have no interest in watching or playing video games, but if it is trivia stuff, too, then I might at least come along to see.

Assuming enough people can actually show up at 9, I'll post a Zoom code here a little bit before then and you can either play or watch.

This might be getting a little too crazy but I have a (work, though always accessible) Zoom account we can use for movie nights as well if we want to see each other and interact while we’re watching.

That's what I was thinking for the conferencing stuff, as some people haven't seen some of the movies we have watched thus far and have planned.

There’s lots of different games we can try. The gist of most of them will be “see a prompt on the screen, answer it on your phone”. Some are straight trivia with a twist like You Dont Know Jack, some are come up with a lie that people will believe or something funny people will vote for. Some are drawing on your phone.

They’re all easy to jump into even if you don’t quite understand what’s going on for a few minutes

A little good news for me -- Dave Matthew must be bored out of his mind because he keeps doing performances. Tonight, he'll be doing a tribute to John Prine on the Colbert Show (I'm guessing Angel of Montgomery). Saturday night, he's doing Farm Aid with Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and Mellencamp.

There's also a Tim Reynolds show tonight. I think people who hate Dave Matthews would still like Tim Reynolds https://www.facebook.com/watch/TimReynoldsTR3

Went to Costco today and was able to procure almost everything on the shopping list, including name brand toilet paper (I was pleasantly surprised about the "name-brand" part. In fact, they had almost everything they normally have and actually have added several four packs of cans from regional breweries.

Shortly after we bought the house, my wife would take pictures of me doing chores around the house (cleaning gutters, weed whacking, etc.) because I am not particularly handy with repairs, etc. She would put them on Facebook, calling me "(DSafetyGuy), homeowner". Today, she had me hold the 30-pack high in the air upon entering the house to add another picture to the collection, only now as "(DSafetyGuy), hunter/gatherer".

Driving up their driveway to their house in a parade of cars.
Oh, that's a cool idea then.
The first four vehicles in the parade were the educational resource officer driving a police SUV, the fire chief's truck, a fire truck, and an ambulance.

So, if anyone in our area doesn't understand why many people think our school district is full of rich assholes...
