Second time I've gone to corner store for beer. This can't be the answer. I need someone to bring me about 100 and I would tip a $100 (Jerloma didn't tell us to get small bills). Any ideas how to effectuate this plan over the interwebs. State frowns upon it of course.

Also, can one get the Rona smoking tainted weed? If so a direct line to the bottom of your lungs seems a poor plan. Just not comfortable with the usual guy. Driving to downstate Illinois seems like too much for a legit source.

Our local ones are filling crowlers and filling take out food orders. Stopped by to pick up a couple from my favorite yesterday, the owner was so relieved someone came in. He said they are just dying right now. Ended up buying double what I planned to, hope they are able to weather all this.

I went under bad conditions. We'd just come from hanging out outside at Stirling into their high ceiling, dark storage space and the kids were being "rough". I think the two IPAs we had were fine but not great and since its a mini-trip to go back, I'm not going to pass by Twin Elephant for them unless I hear some major good reviews.
You guys still have open brew pubs? They shut down all of ours.
They are all moving to loading dock or curbside selling. New growlers only, can't fill your own, cans or growlers. Some are delivering to homes. It seems you have to order online, pick up at a designated time to avoid lines. I think they lifted laws to allow brewers to move their inventory.

Drove past Trap Rock today, they had a card table streetside with a sign and growlers and crowlers.

Brothers, Andrew and Dean Wasson, and Andrew’s wife Rachel are the primary owners of Wild Blue Yonder Brewing Company. All three are proud Air Force veterans having all served as active duty Air Force Officers. This common heritage led to the decision to name our venture “Wild Blue Yonder Brewing Company” as a nod to the infamous Air Force fight song. The ownership team also love the song’s and phrase’s message of adventure and conquering the unknown.

Yep, and they are the (at least relatively) liberal counterbalance to some of the wack jobs running breweries around here. They're really good people and the brewpub has been really well received around here. It's always packed.

That's actually really refreshing to hear. There are a couple breweries owned by retired military in ABQ and they are really well run and owned by good people too.

I agree nice to hear. Castle Rock is bit too far for me on regular basis but the next time in the southern 'burbs I'll make a run down there.

Yeah, if you're in the area, it's worth a stop. They have a couple of nice little patios, really relaxing place.

Not anxiety-inducing, but this thread seemed like a better place to note my wife got a very good lead on a job today. She got let go in April with six months of severance and caught a consulting job that lasted about three months that coincided with the end of her severance. I had just figured she wasn't going to get a job due to expecting companies to simply not hire anyone during the pandemic, but her internal communications experience is what is needed as companies shift employees to work from home.

I had already done some back of the envelope math about how long we could make it with neither of us working (although my next two projects are with organizations whose leadership I expect to be foolhardy enough to try to pull off the projects unless we have pretty much a national shelter-in-place order) and felt pretty good about it, all things considered.

When she mentioned the lead, I thought it was crazy, but when she explained the sudden need, it made plenty of sense.

The last month has been one of the busiest work months of my life.

Today ranks among the top 10 worst days of my professional career.

And surely this is a coincidence, but today I've also consumed two of the stiffest rum and cokes ever poured. I might have to find that bartender and have him pour me a third.

That's great news, DSG.

Before we had kids, my wife worked at a big national medical testing lab. Now she works running a school lunch program, but since it looks like the school is going to stay shut down all spring, she might apply there again.

So about my anxiety...there are rumors flying that Gov Inslee is going to declare a 'shelter in place' in the next 24-48 hours. And we just got an email from the agency that runs Kelsey care, asking how we much we are going to be able to cover her care.

Not so much anxiety but I'm getting really angry.

I'm angry at my company who can't figure out how to organize people to work from home.
I'm angry at co-workers who are coming in even when they're not supposed to, HR director finally did roll call this morning and kicked them out.
I'm angry at co-workers who whine about their WFH setup and keep calling IT. We are betting that next week we'll have to ship their office chairs to them.
I'm angry at other bosses who are making my friends work full time at the office.
I'm angry that people took trips last week and are bitching that they can't travel this week.
I'm angry that people bitch that everything is closed.
I'm angry that I'm angry.

Would something like this be possible?

Can the world’s governments just simply direct a halt until June 1 on payments of all bills, rents, mortgages etc on everyone - companies and individuals- require everyone to stay home other than designated essential services, and try and burn this thing out that way? Suspend trading on the markets, tell employers to stop laying people off, and pick back up on June 1? Would that work? Because otherwise this feels like half-measures destined to fail over months.

It wouldn't work unfortunately. Cant halt the market because thats how pensions are paid out

And companies are getting no revenue so you have to allow them to cut expense, such as staff, no matter how long you halt paying bills.

It's a really good time to support local business. Order from the local grocer, not Walmart, or the local pizzeria, not Pizza Hut.

Some companies are doing temporary 60 day layoffs which might as good a compromise as any.

They can if the governments pay pensions in lieu of an active market. They need to think bigger than just killing 50 million and collapsing the world economy anyway.

The company bills would be stayed as well. It would all be stayed. A two month pause...for everything. No bills, no wages, only essential services open. Push “play” on May 15.

That would be huge. Peoples pensions are over $1000 per month.

I think we have to be on lock down. We are still too slow. People cant be trusted to self isolate, they are selfish. Italy and France are ticketing people for unauthorized leaving of the house. We should be there.

This is why I'm mad from the post above. I've been saying for years we should be working more from home. Not the company is not prepared but are acting brave at my expense.

I don’t care. Under my plan it all just...stops for two months. Governments send checks in the interim. This isn’t an impossibility. And it would serve the markets in the long run as there would still be a world to have markets in.

Agreed. This is actually a job for banks. I posted in the before and after thread that banks are dropping the ball.

I know banks dont want to be seen as "selling" during this time but they should be genuinely offering their most loyal and vulnerable customers interest free loans and other plans.

No one can make you pay. The courts won't even listen to evictions or collections matters. Maybe they come get your car but they will soon be overrun. Even a non-judicial foreclosure doesn't put you out. It's entirely up to you anyway. Just skip payments. Or dont. There are basically no consequences in the 2-3 month short term.

My point is it shouldn’t come to that - freeze everything for two months and then re-start.
