My escape (and exercise) has been taking the dog to the local city golf course for a few hours every morning.

Closed.

Idiotic too because no one is crowding in there, and dozens were using it to walk. Problem was probably the few assholes who would try to play golf.

By Law guy told me that anyone walking the course would be subject to $500-$1,000 fines starting tomorrow. Guy was one of those real officious pricks too, bragging that he could give out fines as high as $100,000 if he saw a group of people hanging out there.

Actually no - he was asian and his name tag read "DeGuzman." Filipino.

But the guy he was with looked more traditional hoser - built like Randy. Guy was a friendly knucklehead-type.

But DeGuzman? FUCK DeGuzman!

Freezing here too. Maybe mid-20s (f) with the wind chill.

Honestly, it seems dumb to close golf courses down. Just take out the flags and make people play solo. Shit, I'd say easily half the time I golf it's by myself (my family doesn't play, so when I vacation I'll rent clubs and play 9 holes occasionally.)

Golf courses are open in Ohio. I played last weekend and plan to play tomorrow. Here are the various rules in place for Ohio golf courses:

1. If you have a cart, either it's one person per cart or two people per cart if the two people live in the same house.
2. Flag sticks aren't to be removed. Most courses have either raised the golf holes or put foam in the holes so you don't put your hand inside the hole.
3. A three-foot circle around the hole for automatic gimmies.
4. No ball washers, rakes for sand traps or any other communal items are available on the course.
5. Tee times are spaced out to either 15 or 20 minutes to increase the gaps between groups.
6. Limited food and beverage service, if any. Courses that are offering food or beverage are essentially doing a curbside pick up model.

The group spacing was a big help and allowed me and my two playing partners to play 18 holes in 3.5 hours. That's pretty fast for a weekend round of golf.

The courses here just reopened, but they are not allowing carts. Which I guess I understand, but my mother is 81 years old. She can walk a course, but damn that will take a long fucking time.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

This makes perfect sense.

And the course I walked on had people, but no crowds - during the day at least. Apparently some kids tried to have a party there two weeks ago. Problem is that it's a city owned course, and Toronto can't be seen to be putting city employees (groundskeepers) at risk. A big problem was that a bunch of assholes were using the course to play rounds or practice chipping etc. Dangerous to walkers (in theory) and it hacks up the course. Groundskeepers had been telling the dog walkers that they didn't care about us as long as we cleaned up after the pups and kept them off the greens. But a lot of people complained about the golfers to the city and as a result - the place is closed.

Just hope that the privately owned public courses open soon. But it doesn't look like it'll be happening.

Funny thing, just lately most of the lawn guys and landscapers around here finally quit working. We have small yards on my block and yet, I am one of only a couple of us who've regularly mowed our own lawns instead of hiring lawn guys. Now, I've had two different neighbors this week ask me if they could borrow my mower to do their own lawns. Got it back from the first guy all wiped down and as clean as if it was new.

The kids haven’t been beyond our neighborhood for about a month, so yesterday we bent state recommendations about as innocuously as we could manage and drove out to the sticks where my wife grew up and visited her father’s gravesite (local Catholic cemeteries are closed by order of the church, but despite my FIL being the near dictionary definition of an Irish-American Catholic, he isn’t buried at a Catholic cemetery).

There were only half a dozen or so cars there, so no problem as far as that goes. Despite being gone 12 years this spring, he is in what is still one of the newer sections of the cemetery with more plots available. Yesterday we counted at least 5 fresh graves in his area, all older individuals passed in March or April of this year.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

My first recreational oxy was on the way to Vegas when we met up. It was the first leg to Dallas and I was convinced some water I saw was the gulf on Mexico. I know geography but I was certain it was the gulf.

He's divorced from his wife (one of Tanya's best friends who Giff actually probably met at Fridays for the Lions game we all caught together -- hell, he might have been there too though I don't remember), but she's a nurse, so...yeah. Not good. Fortunately his parents and her parents both live in Vegas though.

I've thought I would like to try heroin one time. I get how addicting it is, so I think you definitely have to take the attitude of you're just gonna do it once and then that's it. These days with people cutting it with fentanyl there's no way, but if I had a feeling I could trust the source of it I'd absolutely try it.

At the risk of (unintentionally I assure you) sounding condescending I'm really proud of you for staying sober through this. I know there's no way I could go without alcohol for the next couple or three months (and maybe that in and of itself is evidence of a problem), but your life might literally depend on it, so way to go, bud.
