My daughter's academy is sending out a Decision of the Day, in which they have to submit a paragraph explaining what decision they would make in a scenario. Thought this might be fun to do here:

You are Player A. Please explain what decision you make and why. Notice all details in order to make your decision. Be Specific!

Use my off (left) foot to curl one into the window the goalie is giving on the upper short side. 1-0.

While the coach said there are no wrong answers, I'm going to have to mark this one wrong.

Take it in another yard and try to pop it back to the spot to hit C. B is on his heels so sending it across the goalmouth is a waste, and D is the second option but the angle sucks.

In case there was any doubt, I was a goalie and ever really played competitive SOCCAH.

1. Take the ball to the goal line and turn the corner.

2. Pull back to let that one defender who is charging back to go by you.

3. As the other defenders shift towards you, pass it to C, who should be moving toward the goal and who will be open.

That's what I was thinking as well. I might have room for one more touch, but more likely, I'm just waiting a fraction for the charging defender to get a little closer before dropping it to C who might even have time for one touch before shooting.

It looks like C has B and two defenders (not including the charging one) between him and the goal. I think you need something to draw them away.

But the two defenders closest to A will be running away from C. Assume that one of the defenders near B will move at C, could then be either a fairly clear shot (would need to be quick), a chance to pass it to B or a lay off to D.

Drive forward and then cut a pass back to C. Tell B to get real and D to fuck off.

My daughter was tying herself in knots over thinking this one, so she took a creative way to cheat out of answering. She said her team was up by one in injury time, so she would cut the ball back, dribble to the corner to waste time and kick it out off a defender. I love her creativity and understanding of the game, but I do think it was inspired out of finding an easy way out of answering.

I initially skipped the first one because its kind of lame, but here it is:

Pass the ball to the teammate and watch him or her shoot it right at the goalie's bread basket or sky it over the bar.

This was my daughter's answer, pretend to shoot show the defender turns her back (10 year old girls), then pass to your teammate because they have a better position to shoot.

Goalie is leaving the top near post open, and defender isn't blocking that lane. A good goalie should never get beat near post, but again, 10 year old girls, so I agree.

Pass to my teammate while making predetermined eye contact that says "one touch it right back", and with the defender and goalie now both leaning, I fucking blast it into the top left corner. 2-0.
