I mean, he has to have a normal car right? I don't know a lot of truckers, but I know a few and they all have normal vehicles for when they're home and not hauling shit cross-country.

My theory is that he is broke as fuck due to the working so much he was gone for a decade and has an old truck without a bunk and refusing to stay in a hotel/motel.

I'm comfortable enough now to admit to whatever extent I liked this movie after it came out was probably due to not having the greatest relationship with my dad, so a weird kind of wish fulfillment thing. Also I was basically the same age as this kid.
