Actually, no. There are no games on Thursdays in this year's tournament. (Well, there are First Four games, but not gonna worry about those.)

Someone is not really familiar with how the Syracuse basketball team has operated the last few seasons.

Just kidding, we'll worry about that if they manage to get in (they shouldn't).

Decided maybe we should balance comedy with action, so thought we'd go with a comedy for next week and then go from there. So for the rest of the month:

March 11 - Big Trouble In Little China
March 18 - Lair Of The White Worm
March 25 - MacGruber
April 1 - They Live

Still up for doing Dragnet and/or Batman, as we'll likely go through April and up until end of May and take the summer off, so we'll have about another six or seven spots to fill.

Some other ideas I had in the similar veins to what we've been doing:

Gotti (2019) (Travolta's overacting masterpiece, makes his performance in Battleship Earth look Shakespearian).
Teen Wolf (1984?) (someone else proposed it, but I'm seconding it. Worth it alone to dunk on the basketball sequences)

Speaking of Dragnet, if we want to do another peak wacky-era Tom Hanks: Bachelor Party.

I'm all for this because there's something I found out about it online a couple years ago(?) that will be fun to drop during a thread on it.

They actually made him a wolf in a highly experimental and controversial procedure. Side effects included Parkinson's.

Or it could have been the real time travel he did a couple years later.

I'm out next week (embarrassing myself on Zoom again with AB), but remember Big Trouble in Little China being fucking out there when I was a kid. Probably my favorite of all the movies with a spunky Asian kid sidekick.

I've never seen it, but it has to be better than Temple Of Doom.

ETA: Though dubious it's better than Goonies.

I don't count the Goonies kid as a sidekick. Needs to be to an adult.

Lair Of The White Worm IS available on at least one streaming channel I just have to go through the find which one it is again.

It's Tubi TV which if I'm not mistaken is ad-free after an initial ad before the movie. Another movie I think would be fun to do (The Wraith) is also on Tubi TV.

It’s leaving Tubi soon and I’m too tired to watch the whole thing now for the first time in 25 years, but in the spirit of recurring actors and bad movies that makes SQMN what it is, OG (Original Gangstas 1996) would be something to watch...

I was wondering last night, if Tubi had a "wheel of movies", how things would turn out if we spun said wheel once a month to pick the movie. Low-dollar horror films, straight to DVD action movies with stars from decades past, dumb teen sex comedies filled with anonymous actors...

Indeed. I believe "They Live" is on the schedule or in the hopper.

I would suggest "Action Jackson" if we are looking for an 80's action movie.

The original version of "The Longest Yard" could also be fun.

OK, the time has come to reveal the schedule for the rest of the spring, which is surprisingly short considering we're taking a week off for the NFL Draft and I made a decision we should stop the week before Memorial Day Weekend (I won't be available that Thursday, the NBA/NHL playoffs will be in full swing and I assumed some of you might not be available for either reason also HOWEVA...if you guys want to do something that Thursday (May 27), by all means, go nuts, schedule something and have fun.

I've sublimated the recommendations made from folks for these and made some hard decisions and have arrived at the following:

April 22 - Friday Night Lights (as good as any way to amp up for the NFL Draft)
April 29 - NFL Draft
May 6 - 48 Hours
May 13 - Repo Man (1984)
May 20 - Swamp Choice! (we'll do a poll and choose between what's left of some of the options we've all thrown out there. Or maybe someone will come up with some clearly obvious choice before then for the (probable) final movie night of the season

Saw two yesterday when trying to find my Grosse Pointe Blank DVD - The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Score. Actually the latter might be too slow, but I think it's really one of the more underrated movies.

Got an interesting idea for the last week. Does anyone not have Netflix (or can’t get access for a night?)

I don't, but could spring for it depending on the idea.

You can still get a seven day free trial with a fresh email I think.

But also, how do you not have Netflix?!?!?!?

I also do not have Netflix, but will also be out of town for work at that time, so don't worry about me.

Are we back on for 48 Hrs on Thursday or what's the consensus here? I'm good going for the next two weeks, but I'll have to be out on 5/27 as I'll be back in Vegas getting shot #2.

I don't think we have a bunch of people dying to keep this going, so I propose we see if there's any interest in doing it in the fall (maybe on a day other than Thursday to not conflict with football). I wouldn't mind doing it either a couple times a month come October or even weekly if there's interest. Kinda nice when the movie we're watching starts after the sun has set.
