HOLLAND - STARTING ROTATION
2020 Salary: $10.5M
degenerasian's 2019 marked a disappointing regression from a fine 2018 campaign, with across-the-board jumps in ERA, hits, walks, and home runs allowed. Not overpowering, degen uses his low-to-mid-90s fastball to set up a strong changeup and slider. He continues to be plagued by occasional early exits due to minor injuries. Oats fans are banking on degen returning his earlier promise of a legit staff ace.
Head Scout says: "degenerasian has great knowledge of the game."
2020 Salary: $8.9M (contract year)
Rush2112 saw his ERA jump over a run from 2018, but remained a top-notch workhorse and logged a team-leading 18 wins last year. He was rewarded with another handsome salary bump in arbitration heading into a contract year. Rush boasts a mid-90s fastball, with a good curveball and changeup, though his movement leaves a little to be desired.
Head Scout says: "What you say about his company is what you say about society."
2020 Salary: $1.7M (Contract Year)
After a long run as a solid performer,
"Doc" howard saw the shine come off last year, with a monstrous ERA and a league-leading number of hits allowed. The Oats are hoping he can be able to muster a return to form as a crafty veteran. When on his game, the Doctor is an extreme groundball pitcher, relying on a mix of sinkers, forkballs, and sliders to bait hitters into banging balls into the dirt, though he'll rack up his fair share of K's as well.
Head Scout says: "howard is known for his sense of humor."
2020 Salary: $2.3M
Moreta stormed out of the gate last year to a 14-3 record before coming back to Earth later on. Nonetheless, her overall strong showing gives the Oats increased confidence in their rotation's depth heading into the new year. Moreta's limited but potent arsenal features a blistering fastball that nears 100 MPH, along with a solid splitfinger as a change of pace. She recently added a slider in the hopes of building on last year's performance.
Head Scout says: "Moreta is seen as a leader in the clubhouse."
2020 Salary: $510k
blundercrush continued to be a feast-or-famine performer in the rotation, bouncing back and forth between some very good outings and some ugly ones. Still, a team could do a lot worse in a fifth starter. blundercrush's fastball tops out in the low 90's, so his success relies on an array of breaking and offspeed pitches along with good control.
Head Scout says: "blundercrush either internalizes or is just impersonal."
BULLPEN
2020 Salary: $2.8M[/b]
After a shaky performance in 2018,
Johnnie pulled things together last year to live up to his promise as a closer. In particular, he managed to cut back on giving up the dinky hits that plagued him two years ago. Oats fans are hopeful he can maintain that consistency going forward. Not overpowering, Johnnie's game revolves around using his changeup and sinker to induce more ground balls than a pair of sandpaper boxer shorts.
Head Scout says, "Johnnie puts in long hours."
2020 Salary: $7.0M
L-Jam arrived in an early-season trade after Johnnie's early struggles, and though he didn't quite manage to steal the closer spot, performed capably in shoring up the Oats' bullpen. L-Jam has good velocity and and movement on his fastball, slider, and change. He is an iron man who almost never encounters injury problems.
Head Scout says: "L-Jam puts in long hours."
2020 Salary: $1.2M (Contract Year)
Hardy veteran
steve rebounded from an ugly 2018 campaign to put in solid work last year, and could sneak back into the rotation if someone on the back end falters. steve keeps hitters on their toes with a sneaky delivery and an expansive arsenal of pitches, topped by a fastball that still hits the mid-90s. He's one of the best in the business at laying down a sac bunt.
Head Scout says: "steve is Mr. Hustle."
2020 Salary: $900k
teeteebee saw his role in the bullpen reduced after L-Jam's arrival, but remains in the mix to provide some additional depth. He has a good arsenal of cut fastball, slider, and change. His stuff and movement are solid, but he sometimes struggles with command.
Head Scout says: "teeteebee walks the talk."
2020 Salary: $510k
Tom 1860 brings another capable arm to the middle of the bullpen. Tom has good command of superior if raw stuff, using his animated delivery to challenge hitters with his cut fastball and sweeping breaking ball. He possesses the stamina to be a potential starter, though it would likely be best for him to expand his repertoire first.
Head Scout says: "Tom 1860 is involved with the local animal shelter."
2020 Salary: $510k
Lefty specialist
TheHumanComa drew from his experience of Quebec bar fights to prepare himself for the trials and tribulations of being a middle reliever. THC uses a cutter-and-curve combo and good control to garner a decent amount of strikeouts, though his pitches sometimes have a tendency to flatten out and leave him susceptible to serving up HRs.
Head Scout says: "TheHumanComa is slow to learn from experience."
