2 losing seasons, 3 8-8 seasons between 1963-1995 (33 seasons). That is just amazing

At one point the Dolphins had beaten the Bills 20 straight times.

Bills didn't beat them for the entire 1970s!

Incredible thing about Shula too is how he adapted to the changing times. His Super Bowl teams rarely threw the ball, and his great teams of the 80s rarely ran.

So did Joe Robbie just throw money at Shula to get him to leave Baltimore or was there more to Shula going south? I know the Dolphins got hit with tampering and lost a pick because of it (well worth it), but was there more? Some say Unitas and Shula did not get along. But imagine a case where Shula stays in Baltimore, Irsay never gets the team in the swap with Rosenbloom and the Colts likely stay in Baltimore (lots of ifs there).

THE ROSENBLOOM-ROBBIE BOWL

From SI in 1970.

Talk about a period piece!
