My random thought: Why is Jennifer Love Hewitt still relevant? Has any woman on this planet with that little talent gotten to be as famous as she has because of the prospect of seeing her boobs? That's the only reason I can figure.

The irony is, our only chance of seeing her boobs is if she lost her relevance. People, stop looking at her before we really don't want to see them.

Has anyone ever heard of Spider-manning? I just found out that this existed last weekend...not by actual experience fortunately. It's terrible and hilarious.

There are several things that I think were great about coming of age in the 1970s. Among them was that it was the glory days of National Lampoon magazine, which, when I was in high school/college, I thought was the absolute height of western literature. Some of their staff writers became much more famous later, such as John Hughes and P.J. O'Rourke.

Anyway, J-Lo's post quoted above made me recall a classic National Lampoon article by John Hughes, about a high school girl who woke up one morning with a penis. I found it on the innerwebs, so, please, enjoy.

Picked up my suit today from the tailor. $310 for as close to what Javier Bardem is wearing in this pic. That's a $2,295 coat and $495 pants by Ralph Lauren Black Label. Needless to say, I have dropped my tax return into 4 more suits and an overcoat.

Solid.

Have you gone to a traditional Korean tailor and had a suit made to your measurements? That's worth investigating. I had traditional Korean court-wear made for about $150 (it would have cost at the very least $3000 in the West); Goryeo era men's Hanbok. Very suave. I also had Taekkyeon robes made for about $60 (which would have been a grand, easy, over here; hand stitched perfectly by an ancient Ajumma), and two sweet business suits by a tailor in Daegu. Went there one Saturday, he took my measurements. I picked out the fabric, went back the next Saturday and they fit brilliantly. $125 bucks, which at the time was probably less than $100 American. Would have cost me my eye-teeth over here. Four if not five thousand easy. At least. Gorgeous attire. Stunning cuts, flawless; modern yet evident Korean stylish, one a rich dark Sepia and the other deep Prussian Blue with subtle Gunmetal Grey pinstripes. Brilliant stuff. And I could have had them in a day or two but for the fact I was living in Gyeongju and spending weekends fucking around in any city I could map. I also sought out traditional Korean shirts; couldn't find exactly what I wanted; 19th Century formal. Close, but never quite the right one. A friend of mine, also from Nova Scotia, had shirts made in Pohang by a Korean tailor that, as it turned out, hated him. Initially, my buddy was unaware of this. This 80-year old tailor did great work, magnificent, but when the time came for my friend to pick it up, the tailor threw the clothing at him, right in his face, called him "Waeguk" and pointing at the door ordered him out of the shop in a surely elegant bombastic string of megaphone Korean colloquialisms. Gorgeous shirts, weird experience. That's Korea; the tailor despised his client yet could not bring himself to produce anything less than splendid perfection.

Highly recommended experience.

Songtan is pretty diverse with a little bit of everything, but I haven't thought to have anything traditional Korean be made up for me. It seems like something to do just for the ownership factor alone.

For this particular arrangement I happened into the place because a friend was looking for a jacket of some sort and heard this guy was good. Well, you walk in and what do you see plastered all over the walls? Pictures of commanders of every squadron on base from various points in time. All autographed. Dozens of photos. Even well known (by military circles) generals. Also autographed. So this stood out. And his fabric was outstanding. Just the smell of fresh fabric brought me back to when my dad would make clothes. I introduced myself and told him I wanted that suit. I literally tore the page out of GQ and handed it to him. He took my measurements and info. He asked me what squadron I belonged to and off the top of his head he names my commander. That made me raise an eyebrow. If colonels and generals trust this guy, including mine, I figure I should too. So, needless to say, I was impressed from top to bottom. I'll be leaving here with 5 suits and an overcoat, but I'm thinking that could grow by a few. The coolest part is my name is embroidered inside the jacket. Pretty friggin' sweet.

Just came across this bit of logic on an OKCupid profile:
Atheists who do yoga, it doesn't make sense to me, stop doing it ? You do know it is part of a religion? The particular stretches are to do with the soul and the body? We won't even start with chakra alignments and houses. Yes, its like going to eat a communion wafer because you like unlevened products, not because you believe in transubstantiation.

We had to deal with this on a more serious level at my kids' school. It's a co-op charter school where parents are involved in a lot of the teaching. And it's a big-time hippie/granola place.

One of the features is that parents teach "mini-courses" of their choosing. Some parents wanted to teach courses on things like yoga spirituality and meditation, chakras/crystals/whatever, etc.

We clearly wouldn't let them teach a mini-course on Jesus, because that would be establishing religion. So, is it okay to have these other classes?

We ended up allowing yoga as long as it focused on meditation and stretching, and not allowing the chakra/crystal nonsense.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Nice fashion. But if you were civilian, I'd sure advise you not to wear that jacket to a job interview with your typically conservative businessman.

There are actually Christians who have feared doing yoga, because they were worried about breaking the "honor no other god but me" commandment.

The concern was apparently widespread enough to cause a people to create their own yoga routines, incorporating Christian themes. Praisemoves.com is one, and there are others.

Until this point I had no idea yoga was a part of some religious experience.

I just wanted to sweat in 105 degree heat and stretch better. And stare at the trim in the room.

I'm with you Johnnie. Some people view it as this total mind-body-spirit thing, to me it was just a good stretch and hot chicks in yoga pants.

It's minor, but definitely on the list of reasons I stopped going to hot yoga. The last couple of sessions I went to, the instructor kept getting more and more chanty, and serious, and spiritual. It took all my strength to not roll my eyes and chuckle while she's at the front of the class sounding similar to the video Hotcakes posted in the spins thread. Don't get me wrong, I can get into the idea of "dedicating my practice" to someone or thing, I can get into the idea of self reflection while in the poses, yada yada. I just can't get into the whole energies are flowing, and releasing my inner god/goddess thing.

I want to go back for that killer stretch since I've been going to the gym, but I'm undecided if I want the heat or not. I'll just block out the hippy-dippy
