Most of what I do as an attorney is boring, and there are very few moments of victory. Every now and then I get to bring a little justice to a client. Feels fucking great.

Not yet. Today was only an interim ruling, but the first, of what I hope will be many, smack downs of stupid shit the other side is trying to do.

I'm a little under the weather (apparently bought a ticket for the cold-->bronchitis trip from one of the kids) and just ducked out of work to get checked out and pick up a Rx and won the doctor lottery and ended up with the doctor I have a crush on and let my wife know afterwards and now she won't text me back.

First design patented in 1859, though never built. New designs were developed and built in the 1890s.

Well. Yeah. But because it's a tracking stock. Not because trey are building tracks.

Tracking stocks are kinda weird. I can't link very well for phone but I swear I'm not being a dick when I say to google it. Hey aren't true stakes in a company per se and if I recall correctly from years ago they are usually used to separate good parts of a company from the underperforming company as a whole.

Your guess as to what the good parts of the braves org are is as good as mine.

Gunpowder wrote:A rapper named Pharoahe Monch (who's been awesome for like 15 years now) has a song called Grand Illusion that is a blatant sample of Court of the Crimson King. But it's like credited and all that jazz.

I was recently looking up some Doobie Brothers history because I was like 'how in the ghost of fuck do they go from Black Water to What a Fool Believes?' and I saw the whole Michael McDonald as lead singer thing. Part of this is because What a Fool Believes is the worst, most incoherently written jumbled mess of lyrics ever comprising a song that I find enjoyable and easy to listen to, but that's another story. McD was straight velvety, SON.

That got me to a few cameos he made with super-gay Ambrosia, and lead me to listen to "Holdin' Onto Yesterday" by these Ambrosia fruits. Well, every chorus reminded me of something and I was like SON OF A...THAT'S COURT OF THE CRIMSON COCKSUCKING KING! It's not listed as a sample anywhere on the internet - BUT, Ambrosia's wiki page says that their entire perception of music was changed after seeing a live show by Crimson King. So:

1. Why did Ambrosia pull this straight up jack-move on a band they respected so much in Crimson King? Shit ain't cool and doesn't fly in the streets.

2. Was there any beef? Was anyone in Ambrosia or Crimson King murdered over this bitch move?

3. Why did Ambrosia just think they could sneak that by me? Did Ambrosia not think I'd find out? FUCK THEM.

King Crimson, still paying dividends. Sorry, TT.

What I noticed in our Trick-or-Treating experience last night is how damn thankful the parents are when you handing them a dixie cup of frozen margarita (my now 3 year old tradition).

The best was one lady who said "oh, I can't. I wish that Halloween was on a Saturday night!". Like a dixie cup of Margarita is going to give her a crippling hangover.

Yeah, this was our first "real" trick or treating year and half-ish of the people walking and most of the houses had cups. Seems like a sign of a really good neighborhood.

We went over to the house of one of my son's friends for Halloween last night. Craziest thing I've ever seen. Somehow their street in Durham has become famous as The Place to trick or treat on Halloween. They gave out over 1,000 pieces of candy and ran out at 8:15. People were still going until after 9. Apparently another neighbor actually counts kids and they usually top 1,500. It's just a mass of people and there's a non-stop line of kids at each house. No waiting for doorbell rings there.

We had 750 pieces of candy and ran out at about 8:30 (despite a light rain for part of the evening.) We are in the "go-to" neighborhood for the mid-peninsula, due to A) the guy on the next block over putting on a fantastic themed show every year (this year it was a "Star Wars" theme), B) the rest of that street also going nuts on decorations, C) the lots being small, the houses close together, semi-affluent candy-givers, and the ground flat. We get the overflow and all of us on our street call ourselves the junior varsity, below the other street. We sit out on the driveway, rather than have to open the door every three seconds.

I also noticed the prevalence of kids in swat team/cop/military uniforms. Weird. No Donald Trumps and only one Hillary - of course, this is the Bay Area.

Yeah, same numbers here - no Trumps and one Hillary. Lots of Hillary stickers on kids though - clearly being given out by many of the wealthy, liberal semi-urbanites. (The homeowners on the street are nearly all wealthy white folks. The trick or treaters were much browner. I'd say 95% of the folks on the street came from elsewhere in the Triangle.)

As for superheroes - there were a ton of Superman/girl, Batman, and Iron Man. I don't remember lots of Spidermen.

The costume parade at my daughter's elementary school (K-4) included two kids dressed up as Deadpool and one as the "Suicide Squad" version of Harley Quinn. My wife and I found those parental decisions... interesting.

Ghost town in our neighborhood. I have been out of town for the last two Halloweens, but remembered the one from three years ago being a lot busier. Then again, I also found myself annoyed with kids I felt were too close to my height (6'0") to be asking for candy.
