Major League Whiffle Ball (MLW)
Latest series is up, with the battle of the snakes - Cobras vs. Diamondbacks
Also, this 30 for 30 is rather shockingly entertaining:

Just a brutal meltdown for the rookie in extra innings. I think they left him out there too long. Hope his arm isn't damaged.

I'm in. 100%. Already watched the one posted earlier, and series one of the new season. Can't wait to watch this one.
I took a two hour nap and cried during parks and Rec. it was awesome and terrifying.

The 30 for 30 was so well produced. Unbelievable. Throwing in footage when they were much younger, the music, the story telling through the interviews. How old are these kids?
I've watched more of these kids playing wiffle ball in two days than I've watched MLB in more than a decade, and I find this way more entertaining. I can't explain it, but maybe I can remember being that age and thinking about how cool this would have been. And it brings me back to playing baseball in a park with friends, keeping stats. We found a rolled up garden fence in the woods, made a wall with that, spray painted foul lines, one guy made advertisement boards we hung on the fence. Who knows, if we had cameras, I'm sure we would have set them up for replays, but this is just so much dedication.

When I was in college we lived in a house that had an empty lot next door. my buddy and I used to go out and play wiffleball with bases based on where you hit it. After a bit people from around the hood joined in as well as a number of friends. That summer we had a league with 10-12 teams. kept rudimentary stats and things, hell of a lot of fun. I had a pretty sweet slider, but it's like these guys went to Driveline baseball.

Re: Major League Whiffle Ball (MLW)
Yeah, a good number of the players do that. They square up as the pitch is being delivered.
It's like almost every other hitch... When they go to swing, the good hitters wind up with a pretty traditional stance and swing.
A great example of that is Cal Ripken, who used to vary his bat angle, hand position and stance all the time (trying to break a slump or work through something). But when he got into his final ready to swing setting, it was identical every time.

Re: Major League Whiffle Ball (MLW)
They are about 21-ish for the most part. They have videos that go back to 2010, it's wild to see how much the production (and affordable software) has improved. Also crazy how long ago 2010 was - it doesn't seem too long ago when you see "2010" but they were like, grade school kids writing in chalk then. The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 9:54 pmThe 30 for 30 was so well produced. Also, I think the reason it's entertaining is the production for the most part. One of their live games popped up on Instagram and it bored me to death. The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 9:54 pmThe 30 for 30 was so well produced. Unbelievable. Re: Major League Whiffle Ball (MLW)
Because of The Internet, another feed came up for a different brand of whiffle ball. I'm struggling to remember the name of it, but they had slightly different rules (weird ball-strike count, outs and hits were measured differently). They showed about 2 or 3 more pitches per AB and it was enough to make it less entertaining.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:14 pmAlso, I think the reason it's entertaining is the production for the most part. The fact that MLW pretty much only shows the money shot for each AB makes it highly entertaining. When I watch a college or MLB game in real time, I'm usually reading a book or long form article. Shit is boring as fuck, for real.

I was going to joke that I would buy a Preds Warda shirt, but damned if they aren't actually selling player jerseys... The hilarity of buying a jersey of a kid in a neighborhood wiffle ball league is so great, I'm tempted. Plus, it's a cool looking shirt. But I'd be too afraid of someone actually knowing what the shirt was to wear it.

Drew Davis generally annoys me and thinks he's much better than he really is. If I were to get a jersey it would probably be an Aigner.

I'd definitely wear a shirt, but probably one of the Schultz boys. I really enjoy Kyle's work hosting, and playing, but Daniel's Eastern Eagles shirt is nicer. The Warda one is great too.

Steve McPeek needs to keep his left shoulder in when he swings. He’s effectively bailing out on every pitch. How he got to the majors is a mystery.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 4:23 pmNot going to spoil who won, but there weren't very many hits in this series.

They've actually decided either at the beginning of the season or on the fly here to move the pitching rubber back a few feet. I think as these guys are getting older, the velocity and nastiness of the breaking balls is making it too difficult to hit.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 4:23 pmNot going to spoil who won, but there weren't very many hits in this series.
