SWAMPCRASH - PRO BOWL (GAME ON)

Post by Gunpowder »

WOOOOOO IT'S PRO BOWL WEEK, FUCKERS!

You know the deal, I don't have to explain it here. For the Pro Bowl, I'm going to take the top 8 teams from each conference and average their scores together. This way I don't have to chase people down for the damn Pro Bowl.

Send your responses to lay*on*the*ice at Gmail (no *'s or spaces, obviously), and the same 12 noon Friday deadline applies.

Q's:

1 If you were to sort all 50 states by their highest point of elevation, name one of the bottom 10. (ie Alaska - Mt. Denali - would be number 1 on the list) (10)

2 The Nobel Prize Committee assigns a country to Nobel Prize laureates on its website. Name one of the 12 countries with 20 or more recipients. Notes: Some prizes are given to individuals, others to groups/organizations, and some to multiple people. Anyone involved in that group gets a credit for their country. Any answers that are wrong due to a technicality will be modified to the correct country as listed by the Nobel Committee. (12)

3 Seven generic top-level domains were created early in the development of the internet. Name one of them. (ie the letters after the dot, such as .cum) (7) (There is an 8th - kind of, I think - that I'll accept)

4 Name a US President to have won an election with at least 80% of the electoral college vote. (13)

5 Name one of the top 10 fastest land animals, according to safarisafrica.com. (10)

6 Since the 1970 NFL merger, there have been 11 players to rush for at least 93 yards on a single carry. Name one of them. (11)

7 Name a men's world record holder of one of the following records: (11)
100m
400m
800 m
1500m
High Jump
Long Jump
Triple Jump
Javelin
Shot Put
Pole Vault
Discus

8 Bruce Bochy won 2,003 games as an MLB manager, ranking him 11th all time. Who are the other 10 managers with 2,000+ MLB managerial wins? Hint: 3 are still living, about half are from the black and white photo era. (10)

9 The first soccer World Cup was held in 1930 in a country I'm not going to tell you because it would give away an answer. Name one of the 13 countries to participate. (13)

10 Twelve members of one of the "Power Five" conferences (ACC/Pac10/SEC/Big10/Big12) in the college football FBS division play in stadiums with listed capacities of 50,000 or less. Name one of these schools. (12) (There is at least one correct answer in each conference)

I didn't realize until now how hard separating by conference would be, so I'll try to have it ready to run by 1 pm.

Advanced Research Project... something. It was originally a defense department (army?) thing that linked computers through phone lines. Or something like. Al Gore birthed it from his butt or something. I get the history twisted up.
