Viral transmission through four games with the Cardinals next week will probably do it.

Milwaukee-St Louis postponed again today. Olbermann has reported that TV networks, including regional sports networks, have been told to line up alternate programming starting on Monday.

Since all of the outbreaks are NL teams let’s just cancel the NL season and the AL can play it out.

Manfred: We'll make a shitty plan so we can blame the players when our shitty plan doesn't work out.

Who let the Marlins play when they had players test positive? Why hasn't the league squashed them for that?

Yeah, how does “positive test suspends summer training” not carry into “positive test suspends games”?

Yeah, how does “positive test suspends summer training” not carry into “positive test suspends games”?
Especially when there can be several days between infection and positive test result.

This is no longer two in Detroit, two in Saint Louis. It's all four in Detroit with each team as the home team twice with games Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday (doubleheader in the middle). That will be the Tigers' second scheduled doubleheader in four days since they got rained out today.

This was in the Seattle Times this morning:

These Mariners are fun to watch — it’d sure be shame if season ended next week
It’s no exaggeration to say that each day could be the last for Baseball 2020. One crisis begets another. Six teams — a full 20 percent of baseball — are idle this weekend, either because of their own COVID-19 eruptions or their proximity on the schedule to afflicted teams. Lorenzo Cain became the latest prominent player to opt out on Saturday. Nineteen games and counting have been called off, leaving an increasingly tenuous outlook, not just for the next two months, but the next two weeks. Or the next two days.

Tyler Alexander came out of the bullpen for the Tigers and has struck out the first nine batters he has faced (streak active through the fifth inning).

What's strange is that they're trying to do this without a bubble, and apparently no actual protocols.

Yeah, the next inning started with HBP, strikeout, pickoff/CS. Tied Doug Fister (2012) for the AL record for consecutive strikeouts, one behind Seaver for MLB record.

Soto crushed that ball last night.

Also if you would have told me the Orioles would be .500 after just shy 25% of the season I would have asked to have what you are drinking. Have to believe they will come back to bottom, but this is way less embarrassing and depressing than I would have thought.

Had they allowed fans this would have been the marketing pitch to go to Camden Yards. It was not look at this team of young potential and Chris Davis (because his contract means we have to have him on the roster and his performance means nobody wants him).

I'm thinking that if your hitting coach gets suspended for basically half of the remaining season for what he yelled, you probably ought to just cut ties.

Tonight is one of 5 national blackouts for MLB.TV subscribers, presumably because of the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball rights.

So I found an illegal steam to watch the game. I couldn't even VPN into the game.

The backstop at Yankee Stadium has an MLB.TV and MLB App logos. The commercial breaks have the MLB.TV logo.

Like, what the fuck.

Tigers are calling up a couple of the young arms - Tarik Skubal will start tomorrow and Casey Mize on Wednesday. Pretty good way to draw some interest after dropping games 18, 19, and 20 in a row to Cleveland over the weekend.

Gotta get those Super 2 rights pushed off, even with a chance to make an expanded playoff field.

And the worst starting pitcher ERA in MLB at 7.46 (FIP of 6.29 is 29th) while getting under 4 1/3 IP per start. Starters outside of Spencer Turnbull have an ERA of 9.32.

Quite the weekend series between the Athletics and the Giants.

First game - A's hit grand slam in ninth inning to tie it, win in 10th, 8-7.
Second game - A's hit 3-run homer in ninth inning to win it 7-6.
Third game - 9-run fifth inning highlights 15-3 A's win.

ETA: Headline today, after third game

I finally relented and looked up the game score. It was 10-3 and the other team still had 6 outs. WTF? That's not even close to controversial.

I don't care if it's 20-0. If you don't want a guy to hit a home run, make a better pitch.
