Motherfuckers need to learn it's easier to stop before writing the last six words. Pretty much a perfect apology, short of building a goddamn time machine and then...

I mean, how do you not know over the last several years that everyone knows and will call you out on your bullshit for this stuff?

That's not the full "If anyone was offended," that deserves to be mocked. It acknowledges that people were offended, at least. But yes, you can stop at the word sorry and avoid the issue altogether.

Yeah, I was thinking this as well. The statement acknowledges that people were offended and apologizes to those who were. Based on everything else they had written, I didn't read that last part as a limitation, but rather as a special apology to folks directly offended.

Either way, he should be gone. I have to think that there are plenty of people who could take that job. Hell, AAA announcers are generally pretty good, and they are all sitting idle this year. I'll bet any one of them would kill for an interim position as a Reds announcer.

Our local PBP guy is great. The Reds could do far worse than hiring him for the rest of the season.

Yeah the statement should have stopped at "beyond." And it would have been perfect.

Yup. Jays came back from 5 down today, in a 7 inning game.

That doesn't count. It came against Philly's bullpen.

Would be nice to see the players that came out against the statement (which was awesome and largely unnecessary) refuse to play if he’s reinstated though it seems unlikely he calls another game again ever.

I'm going to go ahead and ask....was Brennaman really calling Kansas City “…one of the f*g capitals of the world…”? Kansas City? Really?

7 down!

i was ready to bail on it early but my 14yr old convinced me we had nothing better to do than slog through it. She's a genius, clearly.

Jays are hilarious this year - not sure you could have asked for a worse-fielding team thus far so every inning is an adventure but clearly they're never out of it.

(still loving the fact that - even if i can't go - we finally have a major league team here for the season. pretty damn cool. i actually snuck into the park a few days before "opening day" and just sat in left field watching the grounds crew work some magic.)

It's unclear what city he was referring to, actually.

We are about a month into the season, and things are starting to come into focus

With 8 playoff spots up for grabs in each league, there are now 8 teams in the NL that are .500 or better, and 8 teams in the AL that are .500 or better

I would imagine that will more or less continue to be the bar going forward

The jays are currently 13-11, .542, 1 and a 1/2 games up on the 9th place Orioles

No argument here.

Just think, their dirtbag former shortstop probably would be joining him.

This and Dumba standing alone and the NFL from four years ago is just all a failure of leadership. All the rah-rah we’re brothers bullshit falls apart the second it’s not about the scoreboard.

That's a good call... Same thing I thought throughout has "heartfelt" apology. Sure seemed to trip lightly off his tongue in the hot mic moment.

It's not 1980, Thom. (And I would constantly be using the "th" pronunciation of his name. It's either Thomas or Tom... Fucking Thom. )

In March--
If you would have told me the Orioles would be almost .500 on the year, I would have taken it
If you told me the Orioles would be in playoff contention, i would have laughed in your face
If you told me the Orioles would have 19 wins all year in the short season I would have considered the under

and nothing like having your biggest free agent for the off season being a 36 year old with a greater than 8 ERA. O's may be going the right direction.

Of all e stadiums I think Wrigley looks the weirdest without fans. I think it’s because I’ve probably seen more games in tv at wrigley than any other stadium.
