I think the only way he makes a concession speech is if it's a landslide win for Biden, then his speech will be all about hate and trying to entice his followers.

This seems like a bigger deal than it should be.

I'd love to see him cut a couple vignettes calling out Trump.

A little late, but I want to jump in here and say that I'm with Nonlinear in the "don't panic" camp with respect to Election Day. I share his sentiments and would also point out that because our country's politics is heavily polarized based rural/urban demographics, most voting precincts are almost all Red or all Blue, with minimal intermingling. I vote in a racially diverse precinct in the City of St. Louis that's gotta be well over 90% Democratic. Although there are surely a lot of armed MAGA-heads in Missouri, I have zero fear of them coming into the City to intimidate us. My bigger concern is that sufficient polling places are available for college students, city residents, etc., but it sounds like the Dems are really on top of that during this cycle. The other issue of course, is Bush v. Gore type bullshit with mail-in votes.

I'd also add that I'm with Steve in the "don't panic" camp with respect to Trump actually leaving if he loses (and I think Biden's probably about 70% likely to win). Especially now that they will have their 6-3 Supreme Court, I don't see any other GOP political institutions backing Trump if he full-on rejects the election. Frankly, I don't think Mitch McConnell, et al. are terrified of accepting 4 years of Democratic control if the "swing" voter on the Supreme Court is Brett Kavanaugh.

I mean, I'm hopeful and stuff. But I really believe there will be violence and possible death come election day.

Recent peaceful protests in Albuquerque have turned near riotous because the Proud Boys and those Trump supporters on horse back show up with guns to intimidate.

In the video in the enclosed link, my good friend is the one going toe to toe with the dude in red

https://www.kob.com/albuquerque-news/li ... o/5860518/

And this happened the other night.

https://www.kob.com/albuquerque-news/ca ... Q.facebook

So, it's good to be optimistic. But someone is going to go to a blue city and plow a car into a crowd.

The campaign against Lindsay Graham is fascinating. Are people finally tired of his shit? In a state that Trump is leading by double digits, Graham is fighting for this life and is crying for help on Fox News. Harrison has totally outspent him and people from all over the country have donated to his campaign.

If it looks like the Dems are going to end up at around 52 or 53 Senators then I disagree. McConnell has not shown the slightest concern about violating norms or instituting authoritarian policies. If he thinks the possibility of true democratic reforms are possible that will result in the Republicans having to win fair and free elections in the future (and Trump ramming through ACB means the filibuster is absolutely dead, the next debate for the Dems will be on packing the Supreme Court), then he'll just continue down this road to its logical conclusion. If the Senate is about 50/50 he'll probably trust that he can count on Manchin or Sinema to stymie any effort at meaningful election/court reform

I wonder if the Senate went Dem would one of Alito, Thomas or Roberts agree to retire to avoid court expansion. The problem with court expansion is that using it destroys the independence of the judiciary as anytime a party has the senate and the presidency the court will be expanded to get judges they want. Even the republicans didn’t use this nuclear option

Then I guess it's vital that Democrats win to a point where they gerrymander and play dirty politics to the point that the Republicans never hold any authority ever again.

Fuck the Republicans.

Former PA Gov. Tom Ridge, who was Bush's first DHS Director and came up with the color code terror chart has come out and endorsed Biden. He also ripped Trump to shreds.

Wonder if Bush will fully endorse this week?

I’d bet my entire dick that’s a right leak, especially given that again it’s linked to a specific year. I’m not a tax accountant and I could get trump down to $0 without much effort given the right circumstances.

I’d also bet the democrats are fucking dumb enough to do anything but entirely ignore this. The tax code is shit and a rich guy taking advantage is somewhere ranging from non-story to positive because only an idiot intentionally overpays taxes.

Isn't this a security issue if he was bailed out by Saudi prince? I mean who is he working for.

Of course that would be an issue, just like it is with Kavanaugh, but it has nothing to do with one tax year.

Not just one year they got access to. The numbers and years of “Aw well, nevertheless...” are making my head spin a bit, but having read the article there is more to it than the $750.

The legit question I would ask is why he bothered to pay the $750 except as an obvious “fuck you”. Like D said given the sums involved would have been trivially easy to just pay $0. If he was trying to not be a dick could have paid something like $20K even on millions of “income”.

No, Delaware, this isn't what "ends" Trump. But it's a bigger deal than you are making out. This isn't the only story the Times will do on it - they've apparently got a series of stories coming. The bigger story here isn't that he doesn't pay taxes, I would assume everyone knew that. The bigger story is going to be who has bailed him out, who he owes money to, and the machinations around that. On top of all that, it will dominate the news cycle for awhile five weeks before the election where Biden needs to run up the score as much as possible just to squeak out a win. This will likely help that effort at the margins.

And in regards to Ivanka. Her or him will never be charged, prosecuted, or anything for this. Sad

I don't think most people realize how dangerous it is to have someone with massive debt in any government position, let alone the Presidency. This is probably the most important aspect of a background investigation when getting hired or security clearance, because it's the easiest way for foreign intelligence to exploit someone, or for making an employee susceptible to bribes or fall under the control of whoever owns the employee's debt. This is why it has to be codified that all Presidential candidates be required to submit tax returns. There was a lot of shady shit going down with Kushner trying to get out from under his $1 Billion dollar debt over 666 Fifth Avenue, including negotiating arms deals with Arab nations in exchange for buying his debt. I don't think anyone here doubts Trump would sell out our national security interests to pay his personal or business debts. Which is one of many reasons we need to codify a law requiring all Presidents divest their personal business interests or at minimum place them in a blind trust, and not rely on a vague promise that his kids will run the business and he promises not to discuss business or national affairs with them, while giving his daughter an office in the White House and putting his son-in-law in charge of every major issue facing the nation, despite his having no experience, understanding or intelligence to comprehend the issues after he committed countless felonies in lying or omitting information in failing his security clearance 93 times.

Something Dan Carlin put well in his last podcast rings true here. As much as many of us want to see the motherfucker burn. To be prosecuted to the fullest extent to pay for his crimes and grifts, that's not the right option at this time. At least not to present it that way. None of this "lock him up" bullshit. You give him a way to gracefully exit out of this shitshow once he gets drubbed out and you'll find many of his supporters will follow the same rhetoric of "well I never really cared anyway I didn't lose I quite, etc".

Don't back a wounded animal in a corner and give it no option but to fight to the death. That result benefits no one nor the process of restoring any kind of political civility in this country.
