I’m agreeing with BFJ so much here I might drive down to Baltimore and rub him for 15 minutes whether he wants me to or not.

Man, didn't think my comment on the Biden video would lead to this much discussion... I am confident Biden had all the best intentions, and I was somewhat sarcastically saying it shows he isn't inappropriate towards girls/women, just awkward in touching people. If he was a sexual predator, he wouldn't choose times where he knows cameras are on him. It's how he interacts, and it is just a little strange. What I found strange was after calling the kid "sweetheart" or whatever term he used, he asked the father if that was OK. So in some sense, he was aware of not making it weird, but... he made it weird. He knows he has been attacked in the past as being creepy when he grabbed young women and girls, smelled a little girl's hair, and went through a sexual assault allegation. All I am saying is that he needs to be careful and not create the appearance of being creepy in touching kids. Play that video with no audio other than creepy music, and Biden just created a damned good attack ad against himself.

It would be way less creepy if it were babies.

I disagree, kissing strangers babies is creepy af. I just find it disingenuous to pretend like Joe is the first politician to ever show affection to children. It's dumb norm, but it was already there.

I retract. Kissing babies is creepy af also. Joe didn't invent it, but he's taking it to a whole new level!

It feels like the toddler lashing out in public and ruining everything because he knows he isn't going to get smacked.

And everyone in the room takes the side of the toddler in November.

So, yea. Strong agree.

Kim G's speech is the perfect encapsulation of what the Pod Saves guys were cautioning before the DNC. You can't write a the same speech you would if it was on a convention floor with a packed house. You can't write applause lines or jokes. She looks like a raving lunatic screaming in an empty room, but if there was a packed convention center, they would have been on their feet screaming and cheering, and it would have looked like she was riling up the crowd. This just looked bonkers.

And in all seriousness, Jr. was legit on something.

I’ve discovered that a LOT of otherwise stout Trump Republicans absolutely hate this Q-Anon bullshit so if I were Biden’s people I’d be looking for ways to boost the profile even more and get it out into the mainstream. I would Willie Horton the fucking shit out of it.

Considering the RNC is turning into a family and friends only affair, Trump just actively embraced Q-Anon nutters, and so many establishment GOPers are openly backing Biden, this is a great idea. The Republican Party of 5 years ago is dead, and they are now 100% Trump's cult and conspiracy theory nut jobs.

Except the Republican Party of 5 years ago was a failure already. All they did was obstruct. The GOP is a regressive dinosaur. Think anyone other than Trump would have beaten Hillary? Trump was simply a blip that somehow got power back for the GOP, but by abandoning him now, they'll just go back to being losers. I've said it many times here, the GOP has already won it's last election. Trump may win in 2020, I still think it's 50/50.

Progressives not voting for Biden out of spite because he doesn't represent them and Republicans not voting for Trump out of spite because he doesn't represent them, are both failed strategies for change. Like what is the Lincoln Projects strategy? Oust Trump now and rebuild for 2028? Good luck with that. One needs to change policy from within while having power, not from the sidelines.

Between COVID and the fact Trump has done literally almost nothing to improve conditions for the working class in general, at least we'll finally learn if the 2016 election was really about "economic anxiety" as opposed to white nationalism.

The problem is that most Republicans believe Trump created the best economy in history, in spite of reality. The stock market hit record highs, and people believe that actually means something. Sure, the same people said the DOW was meaningless when Obama took it from a nosedive to record highs, but when Trump kept the numbers on the same steady incline, he was a genius who inherited a dystopian hellscape and turned it into a Utopian where all Americans are in their dream jobs making millions. They will ignore the current numbers, because COVID isn't Trump's fault, and if it wasn't for Trump, there'd be 2 million dead and a worse economy. And many blame the Dems for the economy, because Dems are trying to shut down the economy either to hurt Trump's reelection, or because they somehow take pleasure in controlling people. I keep seeing that argument. Dem governors somehow gain evil pleasure out of forcing people to wear masks and eat outside.

No, but I would like to see him stand on a platform and toss out rolls of paper towels after nearly four years in office to show how much he's grown into the role.

I am really depressed today.. I am watching all the violence in Wisconsin and all the protests and today I am really sure Trump is going to win the presidency again. People want change, but don't realize the way to get change is November 3rd. What is happening is really hurting Biden IMO. He has been standing by the BLM and 1st amendment message the whole time, but people are really getting tired of the protests. I just saw Trump is gaining on Biden in Wisconsin and it's pretty much a dead heat.
