it was a horsecollar, so it was a 15-yard penalty anyway. they just called unnecessary roughness instead for some reason

It's not about a getting a call. It's about diving like a bitch. But the world has a way of resolving these things. Won't be the last time our linemen have a free run at Mahomes.

I think it's more about the "in the grasp" non-explanation than Mahomes getting a tad more than the benefit of the doubt.

why are you wishing harm on a player? and yes, I'd ask this question if this was about a QB of any other team in the NFL.

If I could, I would but Mahomes is pretty fast. Problem isnt the unanimous desire of DL to injure QBs... problem is getting there in the first place. Kinda why you might not want to invite late hits on the sideline.

And did you see the momentum Wise had going to the sideline? He actually tried to avoid additional contact and nearly put himself out.

It might be a weak call, but he literally grabbed his collar. It's a point of emphasis this year.

It's been a point of emphasis for several years. And it's typically only called when they're dragged down and backwards by it. Weak ass flop.

"No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, or grab the jersey at the name plate or above, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket."

the hand inside the shoulder pads is obvious -- that's why this is much less of an issue if the horsecollar rule was simply applied here vs. unnecessary roughness.

Mike Tanier had some thoughts on the terrible coaching of the NFL this season, including these beautiful remarks on Bill O'Brien.
O’Brien the general manager traded All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins because he didn’t want to pay him. O’Brien the coach wanted to justify the trade by featuring David Johnson, but O’Brien the de facto game-planner couldn’t come up with any brighter ideas than hammering Johnson into the line on first down after first down. And O’Brien the boardroom politician planned to blame the whole debacle on a subordinate and use it as an excuse to assume even more power (DSG: this is in reference to O'Brien saying he would take over calling plays, but had already been doing it).

O’Brien just didn’t realize that, career-wise, he was running the ball on Sunday while trailing with no timeouts left, no remaining excuses and one else to credibly blame. Now he’s gone.

Exactly. Jesus Christ.

The moment he realized his forward momentum could've hurt Mahomes he actually pushed his shoulder forward a bit and then Mahomes decided to flop.

He did it on another play too and he was the beneficiary of the most egregious call of the night:

Dude gets to work the refs now. Just admit it.

If y'all would click the link you'd also see this
Note: It is not necessary for a player to pull the runner completely to the ground in order for the act to be illegal. If his knees
are buckled by the action, it is a foul, even if the runner is not pulled completely to the ground.

wait, this play is a flop too?

I'm not arguing in the slightest that star quarterbacks don't get the benefit of the doubt as I previously noted by these complaints being the height of irony. and that's why I think the horse collar call is far more justifiable call in that case.

but I'm at a loss for words if his actions on that missed call by the officials on the sack/interception is being called a flop.
