Please don’t move this post to the NFL thread. It belongs here because the reason Brady is playing so horribly is that he’s heartbroken about Trump’s defeat.

This would work a lot better if a quarterback other than Brees was the beneficiary.

This is entirely true.
But those people voted. So it is important that the meaning and reasons for the phrase be explained to them.

Also, Frankly, the Black Lives Matter movement would also benefit from some concerted explanation of its meaning to the unwashed masses.
Frankly, a little intellectual curiosity wouldn't hurt some people.
This! A million times this!

That’s a huge fucking It Depends.

“Defund” the police, based on the plain meaning of the words, means eliminate their funding.

After all the shit blew up in May/June, people started saying “we just mean reduce their budgets.” But then one of the lead activists write a NYT op-ed saying “no, we mean abolish.”

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytime ... 0p19G=2103

Plenty of marchers around here were promoting abolition of the police as well.
Ffs. You miss the point. No one wants no police. Maybe the term that would fit your eye is fund things other than just arming police to the hilt and not train them to do anything but shoot people but instead make sure people trained for certaint situations respond to those instances where their expertise outstrips the police and their guns.

Steve you are smarter than this.
Dude. I personally attended protests in SLC where speakers called for the literal abolition of police departments. I’ve read their pamphlets and followed them on Twitter. In addition to reading that article entitled “Yes We Mean Literally Abolish the Police.”

Yes, *most* of the people saying “defund” or supporting the movement weren’t promoting abolition. Their goals were/are more like what you suggested. That’s why I was out there marching too. But the fact is that the group adopted a slogan meaning “defund” and enough of their leaders really did mean it. So it’s not entirely crazy for people to think that the Defund movement wanted to abolish police.

I heard enough about Defund the Police. How that platform workout this election?
We don’t know. The results aren’t in and haven’t been analyzed. That was the exact point of my earlier post you responded to.

I personally suspect Defund hurt the Dems. Quite a bit. But (1) we don’t know, (2) we may never know, (3) Defund wasn’t AOC’s idea, (4) I don’t know if she even campaigned on it, (5) I don’t know that she advised others to campaign on it, and (6) she’s not “attacking” Conor Lamb for not campaigning on it.
It did hurt the Dems.

I guess you guys don't understand my point. I understand what it means. You understand what it means. But, a lot of dumbfucks out there, do not understand, and they aren't going to get it unless we spend time pounding the explanation into their heads. It matters because they vote. And, no, they don't have any intellectual curiosity. So, if you want to prevent it from being an election liability, you need to spend a little time explaining it to the dumb fucks out there.

If you’re explaining, you’re losing. In politics as well as in litigation.

That’s not the answer. The answer is to get out in front of it before the message gets defined for you. Then your answer makes sense.

The next 48-72 hours is pivotal in what may happen.

1) Trump’s legal team is going to start their battle in court over voter fraud.

2) McConnell will try to block acceptance of Biden being President until at least the legal battles are over.

3) Graham will continue to try to get states to appoint electors to bypass the popular vote.

4) Doug Collins will lead the recount of Georgia.

And the most important

5) Trump is scheduled to hold a few rallies in the Deep South where he will charge his base with hate and try to get them to act out.

Oh and there is a huge Pro-Trump March scheduled for the 14th in D.C.

This is entirely true, but in my little red bubble at work, was the leading source of animus towards Biden. Coworkers genuinely think since Biden won cities like Portland will burn to the ground since he doesn’t have the balls to send in the military. It’s asinine.

That said, if it wasn’t defund the police it would have been some other misconstrued idea taken to the absolute extreme, so I’m not that worried about it. They will find any bullshit thing to glom onto.

"Reform the police" would've been better, but only because you have to cater to the lowest common denominator.

And even still, anything to demilitarize the police and train them better is going to be met with clutched pearls and endless whining from the Right anyway.

I'm with you. They could've made the slogan "Demilitarize the Police", but since we're dealing with bad actors, they would've just demonized that slogan too. The fact that they get up in arms over something so basic and nonoffensive as Black Lives Matter prove we're dealing with shitbags.

"Hey, maybe black motorists shouldn't be getting shot by police during routine traffic stops."

"Oh, now you libz want to let the criminals run free!'

Seriously. Fuck these people.

So looking at the map nearly a week later, I got a huge flash of how stressed I’d still be right now if 10,270 people in WI had voted R instead of D.

Biden’s win is going to come down to around 20 to 25 thousand voters in WI-GA-AZ. Out of 160 million nationwide.

Nothing but the best people...

Man featured at Giuliani press conference is a convicted sex offender
Brooks was incarcerated in the 1990s on charges of sexual assault, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a minor for exposing himself to two girls ages 7 and 11, according to news accounts.

Brooks has run for various offices, including U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

“I started watching it and all of a sudden I was like, ‘there’s New Jersey’s perennial candidate claiming to live in Philadelphia and Giuliani claiming him to be a poll watcher and Philadelphia resident," Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora said in a phone interview.

James Gee, chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), also said he immediately recognized Brooks.

“Yeah, I know Daryl. It’s so fitting that he would be there,” Gee said.

That could probably go in a lot of different threads, but it's the story of how Trump and Fox are now deeply adrift, with Trump promising to "ruin" the network over perceived betrayal.

This is awesome. Please please please help tear down Fox.

Agree, but the problem isn't that the language as described is essentially DOJ policy (they would probably have to get involved in a credible investigation that involved massive, widespread voter fraud (if one ever did exist), but it's the perception and for four years, every half-witted dipshit in the country is going to point to this as proof that the election HAD to be investigated because it was "fraudulent".
