Re: NFL Week 13
I've been saying that all season, he is fuck awful. Gets burned badly every game. He bit so hard on Ruggs' stop move. How the fuck can you think they are going to throw a 15 yard pass in the middle of the field with 13 seconds left and no timeouts down 4? Insane! Especially with an incredibly fast receiver.
I've been trying to think of a reason the Cover 0 could have possibly made any sense, because I don't believe they are tanking. The coaches all know they are fired at the end of the season, so what's in it for them to lose? No player (or coach) wants the infamy that comes with being part of an 0-16 team. On the previous drive, the Jets were successful when they blitzed, and gave up yards when they didn't. They had a shockingly impressive goal line stand, and when they blitzed, they got to Carr and forced him to throw early and miss his receivers. The play before the TD, the Jets had 4 DBs on Agholor, and he ran right down the middle of all 4, was wide open, Carr had time, and somehow managed to overthrow it. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here, because it's an incredibly dumb call, especially when your CBs are horrendous, but maybe Williams felt they had a better shot with a blitz than actually covering the Raiders receivers?

Re: NFL Week 13
I remember a Browns game from a couple years ago when Williams was the defensive coordinator. He blitzed seemingly on every play and the Tight End constantly shredded the defence. I was in a bar with the Toronto Browns Backers and people were screaming for his head that day.
Just looked up the box score - Browns had 3 sacks and gave up 430 yards in the air. The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and waiting for a different result.

Re: NFL Week 13
I will take your word for the problem with interior push because I don't watch the Chiefs a lot, but I don't know there is a need to run one play from a diamond formation and an end around in the same set of downs (I don't remember, but was the play with Mahomes in motion in the backfield part of the same set of downs?). Maybe just a slant to from your rocket-armed QB to your All-World TE? Maybe run that with another option on the same play being your electric WR running a jerk route as the only receiver split on his side of the field? That degree of misdirection and window dressing feels much more like an untalented team desperate to score in a rare opportunity against a great defense instead of what the Chiefs are.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 11:50 pmif the offense has a weakness it's interior push -- been that way since Mitch Morse got hurt in 2018DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 9:54 pmThose play calls for the "and goal" set of downs on the drive that ended with their second field goal seemed to be more screwing around than trying to score.
eta: the Chiefs offense outside of the 10 is a lot of "screwing around" that tends to result in scoring!

I remember when the Patriot had a good offense, I read something about Belichick calling plays that he they wouldn't normally do to mess up teams' scouting for future game and to make them practice to defend even more. I'm guessing that's what KC is doing.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:36 pmI will take your word for the problem with interior push because I don't watch the Chiefs a lot, but I don't know there is a need to run one play from a diamond formation and an end around in the same set of downs (I don't remember, but was the play with Mahomes in motion in the backfield part of the same set of downs?). End of half, I didn't know that the defense could line up illegally.

Screw it. I’m rooting for Washington to win the division. Lesser of two evils.

Well the Steelers still hold the tiebreak, no? Their loss was out of conference.

Weirdest thing about this very weird year is that both the Bills and the Browns are 9-3.

Re: NFL Week 13
The Chiefs have run three different plays in three straight games with Mahomes in motion. Along with what Ed said, it's pretty clear that they're wanting teams to feel that they have to defend multiple looks out of that set.EdRomero wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:40 pmI remember when the Patriot had a good offense, I read something about Belichick calling plays that he they wouldn't normally do to mess up teams' scouting for future game and to make them practice to defend even more. if the offense has a weakness it's interior push -- been that way since Mitch Morse got hurt in 2018

And besides, the conversation around this is way different if Kelce completes the pass to Mahomes in Tampa or runs it in for the TD. Instead, the spector of the red zone streak (seven straight without a TD) colors all of this. They've been extremely creative in the red zone for a long time -- everyone fawned over Rose Bowl Right in the Super Bowl because it worked -- and are continuing to be so. That creativity is just in the midst of a drought right now.
I'll also be frank and say that there's also still the PTSD of what happened the last time Mahomes tried a QB sneak. The Chiefs haven't called one with him since the knee injury and clearly seem reluctant to again for understandable reasons, even if the odds of an injury like that happening again are very low.

According to FO, the best Eagles fans could hope for in Wentz is Fucking Matt Cassel.

7 real minutes in one league (because I didn't read rules) and 28 game seconds away in another league from making the playoffs in both (Tate's TD in week 8 cost me a win). Ugh.

Re: NFL Week 13
You not making the playoffs in D-Safe's league has to be the worst Bad Beat story I've seen in my close to 30 years playing fantasy football. Most points scored and best Breakdown record in a 12 man league, and not making the playoffs. Even worse, 1-10 Sabo knocked both of us out of the playoffs in the final 2 games. Looks like I would have gotten in if I beat Sabo. Moral of the story, Fuck Sabo!
