Next, recreate 8 out of 10 Cats!
That’s all over my YouTube recs. It’s good?
Yes. It's a comedy panel show based on survey results and statistics. There's also a crossover called 8 Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown where the cast is on Countdown (a math and crossword show that's the UK's Price is Right.)
I just watched the8 out of 10 Countdown show, didn't realize there was also a panel show. (I did know there is also a real Countdown gameshow, but I haven't watched it). We had a discussion about it several years ago. It's hosted by Jimmy Carr, who I love, and has some wacky returning characters. The gameshow is a thin thread to pull along the jokes and skits throughout the show. The contestants are mostly comedians. The Vanna White role is filled by a PhD in Mathematics who is like a sexier Rebecca Lowe, she is really funny and cool. If you watch British comedies, you will see familiar character actors who play the zany bit character in every show. It's a lot of fun, but not much of a gameshow.
I have enjoyed 8 out of 10 cats does countdown but I'll be honest I cannot tell what the hell is going on most of the time.

Agree about the sexy math chick.

The test game last night had 1 or 2 sports related topics. I wouldn't say it was heavy at all.

And considering BSF and I got a college basketball question, you don't have to have a deep sports knowledge. It's more about making connections than having a deep trivial knowledge. The team element is important, as I don't think I would have gotten anything in the first two rounds without bouncing off of BSF's ideas.

I just watched the video of the real show, and holy fuck were those questions impossible! Some where British specific, but compare that to anything on American TV. Jeopardy is like a word search compared to that. I'd love to see that show put on American TV. The general public would HATE it so much.

Episode 1 - Exhibition Game (The RayJays vs. ummm, Team Texington?)

Apologies for not getting all the contestants webcams on the side - I'll see if I can expand that down a little next time.

This game went a little long due to some technical difficulties but you should definitely give it a watch to see what the questions are like. It may help you figure out how to pair up into teams. I'll give it a week or so to see if any more teams come together before I use the randomizer of doom.
