PLD run out of town, Laine benched, Koivu retires today.

Something is seriously wrong in the room in CBJ.

What's the process for bringing in a new head coach during a pandemic?

I was surprised until I saw that it wasn't a Pens fan posting that.

Burke won't quit until he works for every team in the NHL.

I'm going to miss him on HNIC and HC@12. He's a truculent fucker, but at least he's not a racist, misogynist, ridiculous dresser.

I had the guide up and was ready to change the channel after a stoppage in play with under 30 seconds left in the Pens/Isles game, and had to watch Malkin's goal on replay. Reading recaps this morning I learned it had been 3 years since they last scored with the goalie pulled. Felt like it.

Going into today's game, The Sharks' record is 5-6-1. Their record in home games is 0-0-0. Started the season with a 12 game road trip. I know that the absence of home crowds this season reduces most perceived home ice advantage. But, there certainly is a benefit to being at home with your family and sleeping in your own bed

If they were a more competitive team, I'd be excited about the fact that a large percentage of their remaining games are at home. But, in reality... it's already apparent they aren't making the playoffs.

You might be right but it’s too early to say even in a short season. Though the top three in that division has been the chalk and look like it’s gonna be two or three teams fighting for that #4 spot (Sharks, Coyotes and Wild). I wouldn’t bet against the Sharks yet getting the 4 seed.

Can the Wild get in if they only play 14 games? :D

It isn't that Neal is on waivers and Lucic is not, Neal is supposed to be the far superior player. He's supposed to score 50 playing with McDavid.
Lucic is contributing to the team. Yeah he's an expensive 4th liner but he's getting points on the 2nd PP, he's hitting and he's good in the room.

If you haven't read Katie Strang's column about Coyotes' ownership/management in the Athletic today, please do so.

Also, I would guess it's just easier to say "it's all true" than to unleash this statement:

The Athletic would have had to vet a piece like that 20 ways from Sunday, so I'm inclined to think Meruelo is just a piece of shit in a long line of piece of shit owners of that franchise. It's pretty astonishing really. Ratto's piece in the Defector mentioned the Coyotes should exist just to remind fans of franchises like the Lions and Jets et al that "it could always be worse".

Yeah, it's amazing how the Coyotes have had shit owner after shit owner for pretty much their whole existence. I had met one of the previous owners - a guy named Jerry Moyes - a few times, and knew his story pretty well, as he was in the same industry I worked in. Among other things, he got sanctioned by the SEC for a really stupid stock manipulation (he sold a bunch of his company's stock the day before they announced much worse results than Wall Street expected, which tanked the share price.)

Sounds like Alex Meruelo and co. are upset that they've been exposed as the chiseling chiselers that they are.

Was kinda bummed when I read the Athletic piece that mentioned that the main camera angle was going to be the same as in regular games. I get that viewers want what they know, and I probably would've bitched if it were all rinkside stuff, but I hope they can at least zoom in a little closer than normal, especially considering the camera angles on outdoor games are usually even worse than from inside a regular rink.

Is that the guy who sang the anthem before the Flames/Oilers game? I thought it was the guy from Crash Test Dummies.

Either way, I'm all for people piling on Calgary. Give degen a taste of his own medicine.

How tacky is that pickup truck behind the glass?

Also, there's a giant ad for CP on the tarps. I'm not sure what that stands for, but if I were to Google it, I would probably be getting a knock on my door tomorrow.

He definitely looks like a crash test dummy. So damn hokey. We should get all our anti-Flames takes in while Markstrom isn't playing.

Smith looks like a guy I knew in college, whose nickname was Schmitty. Dude looked high 24/7, but never was. He did drink beer by the case though. Pretty sure he ended up in the military after spending 10 years working in a convenience store.

Now I have that Crash Test Dummies song stuck in my head. Damn you, Calgary!

I have no animosity for Calgary or the Flames. I don't live in Alberta. I can't even fake it.

There are nights when I really, really like Mike Smith, but I know that this feeling won't last. Looks great so far tonight. (At the Oilers/Pens game I went to last season, he made a hundred-foot saucer pass that made the crowd gasp. It was awesome.)

Division rival here (usually), so I can but if I'm being honest I can only work it up to about a 2.5 out of 10. Even two years ago when they won the division, it was like...meh.

Agree, but once fans are allowed back, nobody is going to want to give up gate revenue.

This outdoor game this is legit fun but honestly if no one on the VGK tears an ACL the game is a win no matter what the scoreboard says.
