I don’t think they know what they’d do with screens if they actually called the cross checks. Any other contact to move the offensive player or establish position would be interference.

Extension is the issue here. Jostling for space isn't by nature interference, you both have the same right to the space on the ice. Pushing and positioning is going to happen around the net. It's when you get the blatant extension with 2 arms that makes things dangerous.

Basketball players use their bodies to fight for rebounds. That kind of contact is better than hitting each other with sticks.

Twitter is not my bag, baby.

anyways - just wrapped up watching KevYn Adams conference, whole lotta nothing - not that i'd expect anything really. I'm just sitting here thinking...now what.

Go Jets I guess. Fully on that train, although will pull for whomever comes out of the Scotia division. My heart is definitely not into it this year tho; should've pocketed that nhl.tv money instead.

When you have both hands on your stick you can use it as leverage. The stick is a of part of your body. You can use it to block, it just can't be an obvious cross check motion that knocks someone down. In fact you cannot remove your hand from stick to grab someone, that's holding.

So, Winnipeg is good again, eh? I thought their window had closed. I'm not as high on them as I was three or four years ago, but I still like them.

Go Scotia! Grow with us!

Agree with everyone that cross-checking should be gone, but I'd bet the NHL wonders how you'd hockey-legally jostle a Kreider or Byfuglien out of position if they got there first.

Interference tolerance is creeping back in. On any dump in, the defenseman is allowed a certain amount of interference on the chasing forward these days, and it’s getting worse.

I noticed Boston doing a fucking ton of interfering during the last series with NYR. Like clear set plays where if the refs called it all there wouldn't be any 5v5.

Jeebus, is that ugly! (And, of course Sanheim is on my fantasy team in Oiler's league.)

9-0. That doesn't happen too often.

The Rangers' coaching staff is in the protocol and not at the game. How much shit is the team going to give them after this? This is hilarious.

Zibanejad had 3 goals and 3 assists in the second period. Not a bad night.

Was pretty bummed the Rangers didn't get that 10th goal really. Just something about seeing a score hit double digits.

People remember the 2014 Cup finalists for their depth but rarely for how attractive they were. Its possible waiving Taylor Pyatt is what actually kept them from taking the final step.

The Ducks are in last place in the West, but tonight Jamie Drysdale (age 18) and Trevor Zegras (age 19) scored goals for them. It'd be nice to have that in my team's future.

Yes to the Cup Finals on ESPN eventually. Beyond that, the NHL will get a modest number of games onto networks with higher levels of carriage (ESPN2 and eventually ESPN, but the latter not often until the playoffs due college football, MNF, NBA, and college basketball) than NBCSN and NHL Net (and USA and MSNBC...). The primary goal is to flood ESPN+ with content. It may not be top-level stuff, but eventually there will be people who decide there is enough stuff they want to watch on there to pay for it (or Disney Plus or what have you).
Not NHL-related at all, but people may be more interested in ESPN+ (helping the NHL in the long run) after reading the first bulletpoint.

We all know NHL refereeing includes bullshit “makeup calls”, but it’s unusual to have a referee on a hot mic caught admitting to it.

NHLs been managing games forever. Refs are looking to call penalties on specific teams to manage games. We all know it happens and it’s crap.

The league is so predictable. If you have a 1 goal lead you can guarantee you’re taking a penalty with 6 or 7 minutes left.
