Are they using coal in the graphics package on ESPN? Seems like and odd choice.

Not sure what you mean. The background color on the score widget at the bottom of the screen?

They’ve been using a font that appears to include a red strike-through for the school name on some of the pop-ups. Seems like an odd choice.

As good as Lawrence is in the pocket these play calls don’t make sense sometimes. I know you gotta mix it up but sometimes if you have Peyton Manning just let him be Peyton Manning.

I feel very strange rooting for Ohio State but my niece went to high school with one of their players, Josh Proctor. He dominated Oklahoma high school football, but now he doesn't seem so good against Clemson. Another reminder of how great these athletes are.

Except it was called exactly right? You can’t lead with your helmet.

Yeah, there was one angle that showed he drove the helmet right into the ribs. We may not see Fields again until draft day.

I don't know, i think he's trying to lead with the shoulder if Fields doesn't turn. The shoulder hits the arm first. That's a tough split second call.

I just think tossing players should be saved for head hunting. Give him a 15 yard penalty, sure, but that injury is more about bad timing and luck.

Well i think the rule is meant to protect the dumbass who lowers his head as much as the person he’s trying to tackle. Which it should be.

I'm with you. You need to lower your head to get any kind of leverage and then nowadays turn so that the point of impact isn't the head. Because if you tackle while upright or turn to the side too early, you'll lose leverage and get run over.

Heads up tackling is what’s taught now. The dude speared him, guys.

Lowering the head is dangerous for the tackler and the tacklee.

Sure, that happens (not in this instance, IMO). They don't however jump off their feet and throw themselves at the defender. If the tackler even gets close with his shoulder, then it's not penalty. He speared him. I think they call it too often, but that was clear.

Also, I fucking hate Ohio state. this isn't some homer idea. He speared him.

I admittedly don't get the Xs and Os like a lot of people here, but QB counters and fakes and reads when your Qb has a laser rocket arm with uncanny precision confounds me. OSU getting some pressure, sure, but do those slants and screens and whatnot to open it up.

I’m confused.

You were pissed when OSU failed at ethics, but never mind cuz OSU is good?

The Big Ten took a dump on the field when they drew a line in the sand. They ate that dump when they bent the rules for OSU.

Would they have done the same thing for Rutgers? LOL I’ll hang up and listen.

I actually think we are in agreement here. They wouldn't have changed the rules for rutgers likely. and i thought they should treat all teams the same but i cannot deny that OSU is obviously good at football.

It’s worse than likely. I just used Rutgers as an example. There’s maybe a couple teams in that conference where they would call a do-over. OSU is one of those teams having one of those seasons the ...powers-that-be decided it was worth scraping their ethics.

Um, you all are being weird about this. Yes, if Rutgers was in tOSUs same position the conference would have done the same thing. Getting a big ten rep to the playoff for the money is all that mattered to the conference. They would have changed their arbitrary rules for any of their member schools in that situation...
